Cocoa butter is known for its healing properties, including severely dry skin, itchy skin, and irritated skin, not to mention sunburned skin. Palmer’s makes an incredible line of cocoa butter products, including Palmer’s Cocoa Butter with Vitamin E Skin Therapy Lotion and Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula with Vitamin E Skin Therapy Oil. I received full-sized samples of both for the purpose of review, and the timing couldn’t be better, as I do have some peeling sunburn to treat.
Perfect for those with sensitive skin or product allergies, Palmer’s Cocoa Butter with Vitamin E Skin Therapy Lotion is hypoallergenic, paraben-free, and fragrance-free. While I am all for the healthy and natural aspect of products, I would be remiss if I failed to mention that I miss the decadent chocolaty scent of my old bottle of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter lotion from their Pink campaign. Using the intensive relief lotion is still satisfying – I am just a chocoholic, so the fragrance of the other product strongly appealed to me.
As I get older, I notice my skin seems to be drier more frequently. I must therefore keep lotion products on hand just about all the time. The silky texture of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Skin Therapy Lotion makes my hands extra soft and smooth. I’ve also applied it to my arms and elbows as well as my peeling sunburn. This non-greasy formula soothes and helps to abate the roughness of skin as well as the itchiness of week-old sunburn.
Some key ingredients of this product include Pure Cocoa Butter, Urea, Glycerin, Alpha Hydroxy Fruit Acids, Vitamin E, and a Soy and Oat blend. In reading the back of the bottle, I noticed the product claims to provide 24-hour moisture. I am not quite sure what that means, as I tend to apply lotion more frequently based on my skin’s thirst levels. Still, the healing properties and natural composition of this lotion make it one of the first I grab for, especially to soothe my sunburn and keep my skin feeling soft and smooth.
Another offering from Palmer’s, Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil with Vitamin E offers an easy way to treat scars, stretch marks, dry and damaged skin, uneven skin tone, and aging skin. While I haven’t tested the product on my own scars just yet, I have heard much on the power of cocoa butter and Vitamin E oil for accelerating the skin’s healing process. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil is safe for use on the entire body, even on your face. The product contains no preservatives. Instead, healthy ingredients like Cocoa Butter, Vitamin E, Sesame Oil, Canola Oil, and Rosehip Oil help to improve skin’s condition. I massaged a tiny amount onto the peeling sunburned skin on my wrist and it helped to disguise the rough texture of the skin. Sniffing the oil, I swear I can smell the cocoa!
