Get Rid of White Deodorant Marks Fast – Johnny on the Spot Deodorant Removing Sponge

Johnny on the Spot Deodorant Removing SpongeIf the makers of Miss Oops and the Johnny on the Spot collection marketed their Deodorant Removing Sponge to the wedding crowd, they’d be sure to make a mint. This is a top-notch product that really does what it promises. White deodorant so often leaves marks on our clothing, whether it’s under our arms or on our wedding date’s suit jacket. Even when trying on outfits, deodorant can really take a toll on tank tops and tees as we try to decide what to wear.

Thankfully, each garment you decide not to wear doesn’t have to go straight for the laundry basket. The Johnny on the Spot Deodorant Removing Sponge removes the white deodorant marks swiftly and efficiently, leaving you with clean and fresh looking clothes.

I received one Johnny on the Spot Deodorant Removing Sponge for the purpose of this review, and you can bet it will be in my purse, or at least in our car, whenever we go to the next wedding or formal event, and every fancy evening thereafter. I love how effective this product is at sweeping away any deodorant marks, dust, and powder from the clothing. Simply brush the deodorant marks briskly and watch them fade away to nothing.

This sponge is like an eraser for pesky deodorant marks and is meant to be used as a dry sponge. You may be surprised to learn it can also help to remove makeup powder, baby powder, and more. Best of all, the Johnny on the Spot Deodorant Removing Sponge is safe to use on all fabrics, even 100% silk! It doesn’t get any better than this.

The Johnny on the Spot Deodorant Removing Sponge is available exclusively at Duane Reade. All Johnny on the Spot products have a retail cost between $5 and $25. Be sure to snag your own Deodorant Removing Sponge before your next big event, vacation, or business meeting. You’ll be more relaxed knowing you can easily erase any oops to avoid embarrassment! What to Pack in Your Overnight Hospital Bag When You’re Expecting

What to Pack in Your Hospital Bag for When the Baby ComesAs you near the end of your pregnancy, you’ve likely got a million things on your mind. If you’re like me, you may have quite a few loose ends to tie together – shopping for a bigger car, worrying over the baby furniture that you ordered that won’t be here till after the baby. The truth is, some things just can’t be helped. Most times it is best to worry about the things you can control rather than those that are out of your hands. With this in mind, I’ve polled some experts to help us remember some important things to pack in our hospital overnight bags for whenever the baby decides he or she is ready to make that grand appearance.

Packing to go anywhere – on a business trip, on vacation – can certainly be a stressful experience, so it helps to have a packing list – especially for something as big as having a baby. Here are some of the top things that women and doctors recommend packing in your emergency bag for when you go to the hospital to have your baby.

Experts at Philips AVENT recommend packing one bag for yourself and one for your baby if possible, to ensure you have all the necessities. Packing the bag by 36 weeks is generally a good time frame just in case you go into labor earlier than expected.

“The hospital bag can become a huge source of stress between couples because it never gets packed — until her water breaks, he’s hysterical in his own macho way, and the emotions cycle high into a fight over ‘the bag,’” says April Masini of AskApril.com. “So, my advice is always: Pack it early, and feel free to re-pack, add, or take away any items you want to at any time. But pack it. When? At the six month mark. I know this sounds crazy, but premature babies are born early. And they’re usually a surprise. They’re not that uncommon. Premature labor is stressful and nobody knows it’s ‘false’ labor until the hospital sends you home. Why add to your stress, and put extra pressure on your relationship with your husband, when you can alleviate so much of it by packing the bag early?”

What to Pack in a Hospital Bag for Mom
–    Your birth plan
–    List of people to call, as well as phone numbers
–    Slippers or cushy socks
–    Knee length cotton night-gowns (2 or 3) for labor and after (preferably not white!) with buttons down the front for breastfeeding or comfortable pajamas
–    Comfortable underwear and maternity pads (the hospital may also offer pads)
–    Nursing bras
–    Nipple cream and breast pads (NEW from Philips AVENT–both Day and Night Breast Pads and more soothing Breastcare Thermo Pads)
–    Standard toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap or body wash, face wash, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste)
–    Your razor (If you plan on nursing, you will appreciate being able to shave under your arms rather than worrying over stubble.)
–    Your own personal towel and pillow with a recognizable pattern
–    Snacks like energy bars, trail mix, granola bars, and fruit
–    Ear plugs (for you and your husband or partner)
–    Makeup
–    Lotion
–    Lip balm
–    Tissues
–    Prenatal vitamins
–    Glasses or contact lenses
–    Comfortable clothing to wear home (maternity clothes will be your best bet)
–    Plastic bag for dirty laundry
–    Magazines or a book to pass the time before baby comes
–    A notepad for gifts – “Visitors LOVE to bring you gifts while you’re in the hospital,” shares Dallas Louis, a mom of three and author of the upcoming The Mommy Diaries: How I’m Surviving Parenting without Killing Anyone (May 2012). “The trouble with this is the card will inevitably get separated from the gift during the transfer from the hospital to the house. If you have a notepad to quickly jot down who gave what, once the fog of just giving birth clears, your thank-you note process will be much easier if you wrote it down.”
–    A calling card, since you often can’t use a cell phone in your hospital room

“Be careful not to take anything valuable or very sentimental,” say the experts at Philips AVENT. “If you take your own pillows or towels, take patterned ones so they are less likely to disappear. It’s important that you are comfortable during labor and having your own pillow can be a real comfort.”

Nicole Atkinson of Push to Start, Inc. recommends bringing gourmet chocolates for the nurses who will be caring for you.

“I brought a few bags of Lindt truffles to give to the staff,” she recalls. “They appreciated the gesture and took great care of me. I’m sure they would have regardless, but I like to think it helped sweeten my care a bit more.”

She also suggests bringing your makeup to keep you looking like yourself.

“You may not want to put on a full face, but pictures will be taken and you don’t want to look like you were dragged by a train when you’re holding your new baby,” she says.

Easter Punch Ideas
You can also try a traditional punch recipe that is alcoholic or even a nonalcoholic punch to satisfy your younger (or pregnant!) guests. Try mixing Sprite, 7Up or Ginger Ale with Hawaiian Punch and top with a few generous scoops of rainbow sherbet. This delicious nonalcoholic Easter punch recipe will be great for all the little ones and anyone who isn’t ready for a cocktail just yet.

If you wish to make a fancy Easter punch that is alcoholic, consider adding a fruity liquor like coconut rum, triple sec, or peach schnapps to the punch bowl. Be sure to label it so no little ones partake. You can also float slices of orange, maraschino cherries, and other yummy fruit pieces for a pretty and picture-perfect Easter punch.

Tips and Tricks on Filling the Perfect Easter Basket

Easter basket ideas for kids, teens, preteens, adults, and grandkidsEaster comes along with the urge to enjoy lots of sweet treats amid pastel colors and lovely signs of nature. The perfect Easter basket may have representation from all three of these areas, even if only figuratively. No matter if you have young children, teenagers and preteens, or grown kids and even grandkids, you can find a nice array of treats, goodies, toys, and trinkets to include in the Easter baskets you create.

Remember, Easter baskets can be whatever you want them to be. You can include a lot of little items with lesser value or just a few items with one or two higher value gifts. You can also include different Easter basket fillings for different age groups. Consider these suggestions on filling the perfect Easter basket for your kids based on their age group.

Easter Basket Ideas for Little Ones
Young children will love the thrills of Easter, from finding the eggs to enjoying all the candy and special treats. The magic of the Easter Bunny and other spring traditions will become a favorite piece of this springtime holiday. Though you may not need to go to great lengths to impress your young ones, here are a few suggestions for things you can put in their Easter baskets.
•    Candy
•    Stuffed animals
•    Plastic Easter eggs filled with treats or toys
•    Easter books
•    Easter movies

Easter Basket Ideas for Preteens and Teenagers
Even your preteens and teenagers will appreciate a little something special on Easter. Depending on your budget, consider these Easter basket ideas for teens and preteens.
•    Candy, gum, and treats
•    Music, MP3 players, headphones, and other accessories
•    Perfume, cosmetics, nail polish, etc.
•    Gift cards to their favorite stores
•    Books, movies, and video games

Easter Basket Ideas for Grown Children / Adults
Grown children (think college students) and adults will still enjoy a special treat this holiday. You may not need to go as far above and beyond as you did in your earlier days, but consider these fun basket fillers for grown children and young adults around Easter time.
•    Candy, gum, and treats
•    Cash or gift cards
•    Photo albums
•    Movies, books, games, and gadgets
•    Wine, beer, or liquor
•    Cool items that match their hobbies – golf accessories, cooking gadgets, etc.

Easter Baskets for Grandkids
Filling up an Easter basket for your grandchildren can be so exciting but it can also be an expensive task, depending on the limits you set for yourself. Here are some suggestions on what you can include in an Easter basket for your grandchildren.
•    Stuffed animals
•    Cars and trucks
•    Playing cards or small games
•    Movies, books, puzzles, music CDs
•    Candy, cookies, and other treats
•    Fun crafts or activities to do as a family

These are just a few ideas for what you can use to fill up an Easter basket for your children or grandchildren, depending on their ages. You can also opt for a large ticket item like an MP3 player, handheld video game, a new smart phone, or some other expensive yet popular item.

Even adults can put together Easter baskets for each other. A husband may want to put a nice piece of jewelry as the centerpiece of an Easter basket for his wife, while the wife may find a nice watch or some cigars and cigar accessories for her husband. It all goes back to how well you know the person for whom you want to make the Easter basket. Good luck and Happy Easter!

Essence of Beauty Strawberry Banana Lip Butter Review

Essence of Beauty Strawberry Banana Lip Butter ReviewWhenever I see something with strawberry banana flavoring, I usually have to try it. This normally applies to smoothies and lip balms. It was a no-brainer when I saw Essence of Beauty Strawberry Banana Lip Butter on clearance for 75% off at my local CVS. (If you run out in the next few days, you might be able to find it, too.) I really like the flavor of this product – it isn’t subtle, so if you like a lighter flavor it may not be for you, but I feel, especially at 75% off the normal price, it is well worth a try!

Essence of Beauty Strawberry Banana Lip Butter comes in a small tub that is probably the diameter of a half-dollar or maybe a little bit bigger. The first thing I want to tell you, before you dig in zealously, excited to get a taste of this lip softening product, is that the lip butter is super soft and a little bit goes a long way. I made that mistake on my first application and needed a napkin for the bit of extra lip butter left over.

The color of the lip butter is a fantastic shade of pink that matches exactly what you would expect for strawberry banana. The taste is a sweet and fruity blend of both fruits that reminds you of the perfect, refreshing smoothie by the same flavor. The texture is a bit more of a gel than a balm, so be prepared to have your lips feel just a bit sticky from time to time.

As far as ingredients go, Essence of Beauty Strawberry Banana Lip Butter contains mineral oil, Shea butter, Beeswax, and Mango seed butter. It also contains Petrolatum (inconclusive), so I probably won’t use anymore in the next few months since I’m expecting, just to be on the safe side.

I think this product cost between $1 and $2 since it was deeply discounted at my local CVS. I did like that the tub has a foil seal so you can tell it’s never been opened or used by anyone until you open it. I believe the normal retail price for Essence of Beauty Strawberry Banana Lip Butter is about $4.

Easter Appetizers and Snacks to Make and Share

Easter appetizers and snacksWhat is Easter without a celebration? Of course, every family that celebrates Easter is one that knows how to treat candies, pastries, eggs, and other sweets. So for this occasion, if you’re bringing food for Easter Sunday, why not focus on Easter snacks and appetizers? Here are a few recipes and ideas.

Easter Cupcakes
This is a pretty simple thing to do and one which kids will enjoy making and eating. You can either bake the cupcakes yourself or buy them plain from a bakery. To make a basket, put a little icing on top and use jellybeans as mini Easter eggs. There are tons of candies that you can put in as well. Use a thin wicker rope or hemp for the handle and tie it with a ribbon. Another idea for this is to make Easter bunny cupcakes. Use a combination of marshmallows and round candies to make the bunny’s face. You can create tons of fancy things using cupcakes, icing, and candies, and all it takes is a little imagination.

Filled Easter Eggs
Here’s a healthier Easter appetizer. You can buy plastic eggs at craft stores or grocery stores. Fill them with crackers, peanuts, granola, pretzels, bread, dried fruit, and just about anything tiny that you can munch on. Upon sealing them, wrap a ribbon around the egg and decorate it. It’s a surprise that children would be eager to open.

Egg Salad
What’s Easter without the egg? Incorporate this novelty idea to your Easter appetizer recipes. You can use a variety of vegetables such as carrots, celery, and onions for more flavor aside from the traditional mayonnaise. Here is an egg salad recipe you can try.

Veggies, Fruits, and Dip
Vegetarians will have a ball with this Easter snack and appetizer. Slice up a few vegetables and fruits such as celery, carrots, apples, and pears. Place them neatly (and decoratively) on a dish alongside a variety of dips. You can offer Nutella, peanut butter, hummus, ranch dressing, almond butter, cream cheese, and honey. The options are endless!

Bagels and Cream Cheese
Make this classic favorite into a delectable Easter snack by adding a little color to the cream cheese. Use a small bowl to mix food dye into the cream cheese spread. Serve the spread in different colors and different containers just beside bagels that are cut into small pieces. Kids will enjoy combining colors and adults will revel at the fact that your cream cheese is so colorful.

Carrot Croquettes
If you have plenty of time to spare, consider preparing croquettes for your Easter appetizer. It’s a different take on the traditional croquette. Shape the croquette into tiny carrots and stick on pieces of parsley sprigs. Make them small and bite size so that they are appealing to kids. This recipe has carrots, so if you’re having a difficult time feeding your kids vegetables, you should try it.

There are so many things that you could try out as Easter snacks and appetizers. The Internet is your cookbook, so flip through the pages for a tasty idea.

Suave Scalp Solutions Anti-Dandruff Nourishing Coconut & Shea Butter Shampoo & Conditioner

Suave Scalp Solutions Shampoo and Conditioner ReviewWho doesn’t love a nice coconut scented beauty product? I personally am a sucker for just about all things coconut, so I was excited to learn that Suave now offers a line of shampoo and conditioner for scalp health with a coconut fragrance. Suave Scalp Solutions Anti-Dandruff Nourishing Coconut & Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner are designed to fight flakes while keeping your hair shiny, healthy, and moisturized.

I was delighted to receive a bottle each of Suave Scalp Solutions Anti-Dandruff Nourishing Coconut & Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner for the purpose of this review. The timing worked out nicely, as my scalp had recently gotten a touch of sunburn when I was on vacation, so it was flaking and peeling a bit. I noticed right away when using the anti-dandruff hair products that the flaking and peeling settled down and my hair was soft and silky to the touch after shampooing and conditioning. In fact, I felt as though my hair had the same quality texture, shine, and bounce as when I use Pantene shampoo and conditioner or salon grade hair products.

The fragrance of the Scalp Solutions Nourishing Coconut & Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner collection is enjoyable with a playful yet elegant scent that lingers long after your shower concludes. The coconut scent is light and fragrant but not overpowering in the least. It can blend nicely with your usual perfume or scented body lotion.

Scalp Solutions Anti-Dandruff Nourishing Coconut & Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner definitely work hard to treat and eliminate dandruff and related symptoms while moisturizing your hair and scalp. This shampoo and conditioner duo is gentle enough for daily use and works especially well when used as a pair. Both these hair products contain Shea butter and coconut fruit extract.

The Suave Scalp Solutions collection also includes Invigorating Mint and Eucalyptus and Invigorating Ocean Minerals & Aloe Vera 2-IN-1. The shampoo and conditioner products retail for about $3.79 per 14.5-ounce bottle. For more information on Suave Scalp Solutions products, check out their listing on Suave’s site.

Mission Skincare Pink Lemonade Serena Williams SPF 15 Lip Balmer Review

Mission Skincare Pink Lemonade Lip Balmer ReviewIt doesn’t take much to inspire me to buy a new tube of lip balm. In fact, the last time I was at CVS, I bought a tube and a tub. In my experience, it’s hard to have too many chapsticks. The other day I was at CVS picking up a prescription for my husband for his cold, and I just happened to pass by a lip balm display, so of course I had to check it out. I ended up coming home with Mission Skincare Pink Lemonade Serena Williams SPF 15 Lip Balmer and Essence of Beauty Strawberry Banana Lip Butter in a tub, which I haven’t opened yet. I’m a sucker for both of these flavors. First things first though, the pink lemonade Serena Williams lip balm…

The tube is thicker than a Softlips but minimally thinner than a Bonne Belle or a Crazy Rumors. It is a good height that makes it easier to find in your purse, but it is still small enough for your pocket. I especially like that the product has SPF15, making it perfect for the beach, sports, swimming, and spending time outside just about anywhere. It is also supposed to be effective in harsh weather conditions. This is a great lip balm to add to your collection, as it glides on smooth and silky with a nice creamy texture that seems to hydrate my lips longer than the average chapstick.

Mission Skincare Pink Lemonade Serena Williams SPF 15 Lip Balmer contains the active ingredients Octinoxate and Oxybenzone, both being sunscreen for UVA / UVB sun protection. Some other infredients include Beeswax, Candelilla wax, Olive fruit oil, Rosemary leaf extract, Echinacea Purpurea extract, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Pomegranate seed oil, Cranberry seed oil, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Vitamin D3, and Vitamin K, to name a few.

The product is vitamin-enriched and paraben-free, making it a good, healthy choice for your lips. Clinical tests prove the moisturizing effects can last for up to eight hours when using this product. I really do notice a lasting effect and I’ve been grabbing for this product first when looking for a lip balm in my purse. The flavor is subtle, but there. I don’t find it to have the same zing as the Bonne Belle pink lemonade chapstick, but it is a more upscale and utilitarian product thanks to the sleek styling and the inclusion of sunscreen.

If you want to try out this appealing lip smoothing and hydrating goodie, simply check out your favorite local drugstore or mass market retailer. Mission Skincare Pink Lemonade Serena Williams SPF 15 Lip Balmer sells for around $3.99 per tube.

Springtime Nail Art Designs

Spring nail art designsSpring is not only the most colorful season of the year, but it is also the most awaited in the fashion calendar. Why? It’s because it signifies a new year of colors, trends, and designs that will grace the streets of New York, Milan, Barcelona, and Paris. More often than not, people tend to focus on the clothes and the makeup just because these are the things that easily get their attention. Little do they know that some of the trends on the runway can actually be applicable to springtime nail art ideas. Here are a few examples of what you can do with this year’s trends and translate them into pretty spring nails.

You will need nail polish (OPI has a variety that you will fall in love with), nail art pens (you could also use a toothpick or a really tiny paintbrush), paper towels or a napkin to put your hands over so that you avoid making a mess, nail polish remover, Q-tips, and a clear topcoat to finish.

The easiest thing to do is to go plain. Use this season’s colors to match your spring wardrobe as well. I guarantee you that you will look put-together. Use Pantone colors such as cockatoo, driftwood, solar power, margarita, and cabaret.

Color Block
1.    Paint your nails in your desired base color. Let it dry.

2.    Use a more striking set of colors for the color blocks. Use a masking tape to create divisions on your nails if you’re really poor at drawing straight lines. You can combine spring colors like margarita with cabaret and driftwood, or cockatoo with solar power. Let the coat dry. Here’s an example of a color block attempt.

3.    Apply a clear topcoat to finish.

Stripes
1.    Paint your nails in your desired spring nail polish base color. Let it dry.

2.    Using a toothpick, nail art pen, or a paintbrush dipped in another color and draw a line from one end of your nail to the other. Create lines in a variety of widths to make it more interesting. Take a look at this attempt to give yourself a visual.

3.    Apply a clear topcoat to finish.

Blending
1.    Paint your nails in your desired base color. Let it dry.

2.    Open up a variety of colors and make sure that the brush is easy to lift. You will need to be quick in applying each color onto your nails.

3.    Apply the first color in one stroke. Before it dries, quickly apply another color and make sure that it overlaps part of the first color so that it blends. Do this with all the colors that you want to use until you fully cover the nail. Let it dry. Take a look at this attempt to paint a sunset inspired nail.

4.    Apply a clear topcoat to finish.

Ruffian
1.    Apply a metallic base coat. Orly Luxe is a great shade for this. Let it dry. If you want to put a spring theme into this previous spring nail art favorite, use a spring pantone color.

2.    With a very careful and precise finger, paint over the nail with a darker shade, leaving a crescent moon at the base of the nail. Think of it as a reverse French tip, because that’s what it looks like. Let it dry. Take a look at this pretty one. If you have a hand that’s quite a bit shaky, you can put on a piece of tape that’s cut out in a crescent shape on the base of your nail and remove it once the darker coat dries.

3.    Apply a clear top coat to finish. You may want to try one that has a matte finish to enhance the look.

These spring nail designs are inspired from the latest trends that hit the runway during the Spring/Summer 2012 shows. Ruffian, however, was inspired by the designer who used it on his models in his Spring 2010 collection during the New York Fashion Week. Spring nail colors add so much to your look, no matter what you wear. Have you tried these spring nail art techniques? What other ideas do you have for your nails this season? Share it with us in the comments below.

Adorable Easter Dessert Ideas to Enjoy or Share

Easter is a time of year that brings to mind wonderful, delicious sweets and treats – coconut Easter eggs, jelly beans, candy as far as the eye can see, cupcakes, pastries, decadent cakes in the shape of bunnies, and so many other yummy and adorable Easter desserts. No matter if you are hosting Easter yourself or looking to make something you can bring with you to someone’s home for the holiday, consider these fun and adorable Easter dessert ideas you can make yourself!

Before you get started, make sure you have the necessary supplies. If you are planning a few days to a week or two in advance, that should give you sufficient time to order or purchase any ingredients or materials you need to create your very own delicious Easter desserts and treats.

Coconut Easter Bunny Cake
This popular favorite Easter dessert gets better and better every year. Your kids and younger relatives will absolutely love this adorable bunny shaped cake!

Ingredients:
Box of cake mix (or your own recipe)
Can of vanilla frosting
Shredded coconut
Jelly beans for eyes and nose
Shoestring licorice for whiskers
Fruit Rollups for Ears
One marshmallow for cotton tail
(Makes 2 bunny cakes)

Instructions:
1.    Bake a cake in two round pans.
2.    Remove from pans and allow cake to cool on cooling racks.
3.    Frost the top of one cake layer once cool.
4.    Put the second cake layer on top of the one you just frosted, as if you are making a traditional round cake.
5.    Cut the round cake in half and place each half on a plate, flat side down.
6.    Frost the cake with vanilla frosting and immediately coat the entire half-cake with shredded coconut.
7.    Using scissors or a steak knife over a cutting board, cut out two bunny ear shapes from the Fruit Rollups.
8.    Attach the Fruit Rollup Ears with frosting to the side of the cake where the head will be. (Usually where the cake is arcing upward is a good place for the ears, just before it levels out.)
9.    Add two of the same colored jelly beans for eyes and a pink or red one for a nose. Place them appropriately based on where your ears are located.
10.    Add a big white marshmallow or a dab of frosting and more coconut for a tail.

Alternative Shape for Bunny Cake: Easter Bunny Sheet Cake
If you like the idea of an Easter bunny cake but you don’t want to mess with the sideways positioning and cutting a cake in half and all that, you can make an Easter Bunny Sheet Cake instead. Make your cake as usual, and instead of frosting it all at once, keep one round cake intact and cut the other so that you have a bow-tie and two ears. Arrange the pieces of cake on a foiled board or platter and frost all pieces. Decorate with pink sugar crystals, jelly beans, and shoestring licorice for whiskers. This yummy bunny cake can be a delicious way to celebrate Easter!
