Looking Younger on Your Child’s Wedding Day – Tips for Bride’s Mom and Groom’s Mom to Take Years off with the Right Cosmetics

Special events and important gatherings give us reason to want to look our best, shave years off our appearance, and show off our true style and fashion sense. As a mother of the bride (MOB) or mother of the groom (MOG), chances are you may want to look younger for your daughter’s or son’s wedding day. Did you know you can take a few years off your appearance with the right cosmetics?

Just as different clothing fashions can alter your look for a younger appearance, you can enjoy the same kinds of results by achieving a younger look with cosmetics on your child’s wedding day. Often, the bride’s mom and groom’s mom share a highly important role in their child’s wedding day, so if desired, a youthful appearance is often of the utmost importance.

If you want to take a few years off your appearance, read on for tips on how you can look younger on your child’s wedding day using cosmetics.

What are some ways the mother of the bride (MOB) and mother of the groom (MOG) can look younger or take years off with makeup?
If you are accustomed to using cosmetics in your daily routine, you might not even worry about the results you will achieve when using cosmetics to make you look younger for your child’s wedding day. Mother of the bride and mother of the groom can follow these tips from Makeup Artist Vanessa Elese and beauty expert Sonia Roselli, who owns Sonia Roselli Esthetique, in order to look younger with the right makeup products.

“Makeup is a wonderful tool in helping to enhance our features,” Elese says. “I truly believe less is more.  Makeup is a lot like a gorgeous dress, you should be wearing it, instead of it wearing you.”

Makeup Tips for Younger Looking Eyes
When thinking of ways to make your eyes look more youthful, remember to make every effort to get a good sleep the night before your child’s wedding. Mother of the bride and mother of the groom have a lot of tasks and responsibilities (and likely, stress) on their plates, but their beautiful, youthful appearance is important for their child’s special day.

For more youthful looking eyes, consider these tips:

“After long hours of excitement, eyes can become a bit tired,” Elese says. “Ensure your eyes are aglow and mix a highlighter with your under eye concealer. Not only does it diffuse the lines and circles, but also defies: you look like you’ve had an instant eight hours of sleep.”

She recommends Smashbox’s Photo Op Under Eye Brightener.

“This sheer liquid, when delicately applied to your under eye, really awakens and tones the skin,” Elese says.

Makeup Tips for Younger Looking Skin and Cheeks
There are a variety of things you can do to enjoy younger looking skin. Unfortunately, some of those involve taking good care of your skin in your younger years, taking precautions in the sun, and so forth. Despite this, mother of the bride and mother of the groom can still try a variety of products and cosmetic tricks to lighten the load and enjoy a younger appearance for the wedding day festivities.

For younger looking skin and youthful cheeks, consider these tips:

“Skin as we age becomes a bit dryer, so our old tools can be updated, but using a cream or gel blush instead of just a powder formula,” Elese instructs. “I love Alison Raffaele’s ‘Inner Glow’. This water-based gel formula lasts, hydrates, and adds the perfect amount of hue with its translucent formula.”

Vanessa Elese recommends a cream blush, like Nar’s “Cream Blush,” which she says includes Vitamin E and hydrates with a sheer deposit of color. Her favorite shade is “Gueule de Nuit.”

“Try gingerly sweeping your favorite complementary powder blush over the gel/cream to add dimension and really look glamorous,” Elese suggests.

Sonia Roselli, owner of Sonia Roselli Esthetique, a makeup and skin studio in Chicago, suggests keeping frosty shimmers to a minimum or using sheer shimmers.

“Too much shimmer can show fine lines and wrinkles, but too matte can also look too much,” she says. “Go for products that have silicone in them. Also, keep the cheek color to a very soft pink. Almost a candy pink, if you will. That color works on almost all skin tones and looks very youthful.”

Makeup Tips for Youthful Looking Lips
For smoochable, sexy lips, moms of the bride and groom can take a few tips from the pros. Get a soft and kissable mouth, with plump, luscious lips by following a few tips on using cosmetics and beauty products to get youthful looking lips.

For young looking lips, consider these tips:

“Try a great lip plumping gloss over your favorite shade of lipstick,” Elese offers. “Bodyography has one of my favorites, ‘Lip Vapour.’ This formula plumps lips with a slight cinnamon burst taste that ignites the taste buds and easily absorbs and enhances the lips using your body’s own natural moisture which results in a lusciously full pout. This formula doesn’t sting and actually lasts!”

“For moms it is crucial to wear a cream lipstick or a gloss,” says Sonia Roselli, owner of Sonia Roselli Esthetique, a makeup and skin studio in Chicago. “Mattes are very aging, as are too dark a lip color. [Moms should] Go for one or two shades deeper of their natural lip tone for the freshest look but to pop in photos. Also keeping the lips very glossy will instantly take 10 years off.”

Remember, even if you opt to go easy on the cosmetics for a more natural look at your child’s wedding, you are as young as you feel. Enjoy the special day!

Beauty Tips for Women of All Ages

No matter if you are a teenager, young adult, baby boomer, or a more mature woman, some beauty and fashion tips never change. You can keep yourself looking and feeling great with only a little bit of time and a small amount of effort.

Even if you aren’t accustomed to wearing makeup, some products are so simple to use that it should only take you a few moments to try them out and decide if you like them. Try these beauty tips for women of all ages for a lovely look that is fast, fabulous, and easy to achieve.

1.    Use lip gloss or ChapStick to keep your lips soft, moist, and kissable. Use a product with sunscreen (like Softlips or Blistex) to prevent getting sunburn on your lips (a truly awful experience if you’ve never had it).

2.    If you want only a basic, natural look using minimal makeup, go with mascara, neutral colored eye shadow, and lip gloss or lip tint. This is a great everyday look for women who only have a few moments to get ready for the day.

3.    To make your eyes “pop,” apply dark colored eyeliner, such as brown or black, to both your upper and lower lash line. This look works well with mascara and eye shadow, and especially a smoky eye look. Please note – dark eyeliner can make you look older, so keep this in mind based on the look you are trying to achieve.

4.    Protect your skin with a tinted moisturizer containing SPF 15 or greater (like Murad). You can still blend in the imperfections in your skin tone while protecting yourself from the UV rays. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen to the rest of your exposed skin if you are planning to be out in the sun.

5.    Wear a hat on exceptionally hot days or as a fun fashion statement. If you’ve ever gotten sunburn on your scalp, you’ll quickly accept the benefit of wearing a hat to protect the top of your head and your face. Some hats even offer built-in UV protection (like Wallaroo).

Depending on your own personal preferences, you can enhance your look with other classic beauty moves, such as using colored eyeliner, experimenting with foundation and bronzer, or even applying false eyelashes for special events. Mascara and lip gloss are two basic beauty elements that work for any woman, but the more interested you become in makeup, the more you can enjoy the wide and wonderful world of cosmetics and beauty goodies.

Hot Colors and Makeup Trends for Eyes, Lips, Cheeks, and Skin for Summer 2009 and Beyond

If you want a sexy look for summer, check out the runways and fashion magazines to discover the latest looks. You can also find the hottest new makeup trends and hot colors for eyes, lips, cheeks, and more for the summer of 2009 on the shelves of your favorite beauty supply store and the pages of your favorite brand’s Web site.

To learn about the hot colors and makeup trends for eyes, lips, cheeks, and skin for this summer of 2009, consider the tips and suggestions from professional makeup artists and other experts in the beauty world, listed below. No matter if you want to know the latest trends in eye makeup for the summer, or how to perfect your pout, or how to give your face a natural and healthy glow, you’ll find great suggestions to enhance your look for the summer.

Many beauty experts agree that the hottest look for summer 2009 is a natural look. Show off a radiant glow with as little cover-up as possible and play up your best features. The beauty pros agree that playing up your eyes typically means your lips should take on a more subtle look, and on the flip, putting the emphasis on your lips means you should probably downplay the intensity of your eyes.

“Beach make-up should be minimal, fun, protective and waterproof without sacrificing color and glamour,” says celebrity makeup artist Belinda Moss, who has applied makeup for some of the hottest celebrities, including Beyoncé, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Longoria, and Giselle Bundchen.

Whether you want to go for a natural look or a more dramatic look this summer, consider these makeup tips and trends for summer 2009.

MAKEUP TRENDS AND SUMMER TIPS FOR SKIN, CHEEKS, AND ALL OVER FACE
Makeup and skincare trends for summer 2009 have a lot to do with protecting your skin from the sun and preventing oily skin from taking over your face. From bronzer to blush, beauty experts offer wonderful tips on summer skincare and makeup trends for your skin, as well as recommendations for products to help you achieve the desired look.

Keeping skin spot free is definitely IN and so is VERTERE Dramatic Transformation Cream SPF 15.  This is the first and only skin care brand created to simultaneously improve the appearance of adult acne, signs of aging and hyperpigmentation all while shielding your skin from UVA/UVB damage.
– Kelly Miron (makeup artist and owner, The Powder Room Makeup Oasis & Boutique)

Keeping oily skin in check is in!  A light dusting of Girlactik Mineral Face Powder will keep the shine away without a cakey build-up.  All natural, healthy minerals also keep the bacteria in check so you’ll have fewer break-outs.
– Kelly Miron

Lighten Up: With the summer heat, it’s best to avoid heavy concealers or foundations that you’ll sweat off. “Opt for a tinted moisturizer with SPF, which is ideal for almost any skin type or a face powder,” says Moss. “When using the face powder, apply with a brush to achieve a natural-looking finish.”
– Belinda Moss

Switch to powder, use brushes, and blot as needed. You might want to switch from cream or liquid foundations to powders to even out the skin tone in summer time. Use small amounts of concealer after cream blush and set it all with powder. Using brushes will help you not put too much on and give you better results. If needed, keep blotting papers with you to refresh during the day.
– Nives Riddles (internationally acclaimed, award winning make-up artist and eyebrow expert)

Powder bronzers are taking a vacation this summer since rosy cheeks are back in town.  Get the look with Summer Glow Mineral Blush from VOX Cosmetics.  Instead of a powder bronzer, get a soft bronze glow all over your face with a see-through gel like Bronze Ultra Sheer from Face Atelier.
– Kelly Miron

Natural Flush: Blush should be used to contour the cheeks or to create a natural flush. “When contouring the cheeks, choose peachy and pink colors and lightly sweep across the apples of the cheeks only,” says Moss. “If you’re looking to contour your cheeks, use a mocha shade or bronzer along your jaw line and the hollow of the cheek.”
– Belinda Moss

MAKEUP TRENDS AND SUMMER TIPS FOR EYES AND LIPS
The hottest looks for summer 2009 are not difficult to create at home with the right instruction. You can rock out with smudged eyes or a sexy smooch that you yourself create at home. From bold to neutral and everything in between, consider these summer makeup tips and trends for sexy, intense eyes and kissable lips.

Smudged eyes are the hottest look now.  Use a soft eye pencil and line inside your lids then blink a few times and smudge with a smudging sponge, brush or your finger.  A great product to use to achieve this look is Kevyn Aucoin’s Basic Black, Brown or Plum Eye Pencils that include a smudging sponge on the end.
– Kelly Miron

“Twilight” is so IN!  Create your summer “Twilight’ look with Girlactik Star Gloss in Bella for your lips and Girlactik Waterproof Eye Glaze in Love and Night for your eyes.  Looks so great with the smudged eye!
– Kelly Miron

Be Bold: A great way to brighten up your look is to add some color. “Try using colored mascara in bright blues and burgundies,” Moss says. “Remember when using bright colors, a lot goes a long way, and keep the rest of the face neutral to avoid looking overdone.”
– Belinda Moss

Switch to sweat-proof eyeliners and mascaras! Waterproof products still leave you with smudgy corners in the summer heat. Great ones are by Blinc Inc. and Dianne Brill Night and Day Mascara. Keep it simple with eye shadows. Choose one color only, any pretty light pastel colors will look beautiful (peach, lavender, mint). Try out some mat finish eye shadows too.
– Nives Riddles

Natural looking brows will never go out of style. Use clear brow gel to brush, lift and hold them. If the hairs are long, trim them carefully following the brow line.
– Nives Riddles

Apply fresh tone or nude color lip liner on the upper lip while you keep your lips together, no smile. This way you can see if the line is going where you would want it to enhance you r natural lips. On the lower lip its better to smile and apply the liner along the lip line as well as dab with your finger starting from the center bit of lipstick color. Dabbing the lipstick will keep your lips looking natural and lipstick sheer.  I suggest going for mat textures and berry colors.
– Nives Riddles

Go Nude: Pale and nude lips are popular again this summer along with wearing lip gloss. “You can achieve this look by outlining lips with nude lip liner along with filling in the rest of the lips,” says Moss. “After applying the lip liner, put on Softlips sheer lip conditioning balm with SPF 20 to help condition your lips and protect them from sun damage. And if you’re looking for a little shine, apply your favorite lip gloss over the lip balm.”
– Belinda Moss

A Hint of Color: If you’re looking for light, long-wearing lip color that also offers protection, Softlips Tinted Lip Conditioners with SPF 15 in rose, bronze, and pearl are an easy way to add color without overdoing makeup at the beach.
– Belinda Moss

Makeup and Skincare Dos and Don’ts for Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom

Makeup gives us that polished appearance that so many women won’t leave the house without. Mothers of the bride and mothers of the groom may feel more pressure when getting ready for their child’s wedding than usual. For a beautiful appearance and a wonderful time at your son’s or daughter’s wedding, consider these tips for makeup dos and don’ts for mother of the bride and mother of the groom.

Makeup and Skincare Dos and Don’ts for Mother of the Bride (MOB) and Mother of the Groom (MOG)
Vanessa Elese, makeup artist, shares the following dos and don’ts for the moms in the wedding:

DO drink lots of water to hydrate and clarify the skin.

DO wear waterproof mascara. Try Maybelline “Full N’ Soft” lash waterproof mascara in blackest black or try  “Kiss Me” Mascara, which creates tiny hydrating tubes around each lash, providing length and fullness as well as lash sensitive waterproofing.

DO NOT pack in a last minute tanning session or a first try of a tanning booth. These last minute sessions can turn sour in a minute. Instead, if you are planning on adding a glow, do a trial run with a package deal, and get a spray tan about three weeks prior to test it out and decide how dark you want to go.

DO pack a few of your favorite beauty items in your purse on the wedding day. Some important makeup and beauty items to carry in your purse are:

•    Lipstick / Lip gloss
•    Powder / Rice paper blotters
•    Tissues
•    Lip liner
•    Mints

Once you have your makeup and skincare dos and don’ts figured out for your child’s wedding, make sure you do a test run with your mother of the bride dress or mother of the groom gown. You want to be sure that your makeup, hairstyle, dress, and accessories all look lovely together.

Tips for Purchasing Designer Cosmetics

When your local drugstore doesn’t carry the exact shade or type of product you desire, don’t give up! You may have to shell out a little bit more money, but the designer cosmetics at department store counters work wonders, making you feel chic, sexy and stylish!

While you may pay double, triple or even quadruple the amount you are used to spending for a powder compact, eye shadow duo or lipstick, the quality of the designer cosmetics products can be exceptional. With dozens of colors, textures, styles and fragrances, designer cosmetics reach out to consumers on many levels. If you’ve never bought these expensive, upscale products, do your best to avoid going hog wild and spending a fortune, but test the waters and enjoy your new makeup products.

The trick to not spending an exorbitant amount of cash on your cosmetics is to purchase a number of lower end products for everyday use, and to apply the designer cosmetics on special occasions. A special date, a job interview, a dance, wedding or formal gathering – these events provide the best excuses for getting all dolled up!

Another good thing about designer cosmetics…if you plan your shopping trip ahead of time, you can find out when the cosmetics company will be offering their free gift. Many times brands like Clinique and Estée Lauder require a minimum purchase of $25 or $30 for a customer to qualify for the free gift. To reach this minimum quota, you may only need to select two or three items, depending on price.

Tips for getting the most for your money when buying designer cosmetics:

1.    Try to wait for a sale or a special promotion with a free gift. You’ll feel less guilty spending money if you are getting something for free!

2.    If you don’t have a store charge card yet, consider opening one if a discount is involved.
Many department stores and chain stores will offer a 10 percent discount on the entire day’s purchases for new charge customers.

3.    Buffer your cosmetic collection with lesser expensive products. Standard brands are typically available in most drugstores, grocery stores and discount beauty supply stores. You can even check out some merchants on the Web for better prices yet!

4.    Keep an eye out for special sales in the store circular.
Sometimes stores will avoid discounting their designer cosmetics, but every once in a while you’ll get lucky. While the discount may only come to 10 or 15 percent off, every little bit helps! Keep an eye out for coupons, too!

Beauty Bytes – Quick and Easy Beauty Tips and Tricks

If you want to look great but only have moments to primp and prepare, don’t fret. You can use some fast-paced makeup tips and tricks to help you get the job done with time to spare.

Check out these quick and easy beauty tips and tricks for lovely lips, sexy eyes, and must-have hair.

Tips for Lips:
Luscious… For a refreshing treat, tuck your lip-gloss or Chap Stick securely in the door of your refrigerator. You will love how cool and invigorating your favorite flavor feels and tastes! Use lip balm often to keep your lips kissably soft!

Lovely… If using a lip liner pencil, trace around the perimeter of your lips steadily and gently shade the inside. Next apply lipstick and check for evenness. Finish with a shiny or glassy lip-gloss if desired.

Tricks for Eyes:
Lashes… Draw some attention to your eyes with a mascara product that lengthens and thickens your eyelashes. Choose waterproof mascara for a day at the pool, the beach or during dreary weather. Also, you can elongate your eyelashes by applying mascara at first in a vertical brushing motion. This will coat the tips of your lashes, giving them a lengthened appearance.

Lids… Choose a powdery shadow that complements your shirt or accents a particular color in something you are wearing. For a more dramatic look, apply a thin line of eyeliner just beneath your lower lashes. The eyeliner will bring out your eyes, making them more distinct and intense.

Brows… Before plucking your eyebrows, use a white eyeliner pencil to help you determine the shape you’d like to achieve. You can also use a brow pencil to fill in gaps if you accidentally tweeze in the wrong area.

Hints for Hair:
Styling… Bored of your normal hairdo? Try some fun new styles the easy way. Stock up on a few new barrettes, clips and hair accessories. Experiment with new styles and rely on old traditional ones. Pigtails and ponytails can be playful and fun while also practical for athletic activities. Headbands and hair scarves work great to pull loose strands away from your eyes. Small claw clips create dozens of unique looks. Have fun!

Coloring…
If you’d like to sport a new shade of brown, blonde, red or black (or another daring color), don’t forget to test a small area of your hair first. You want to make sure the color comes out right and that you don’t suffer any allergic reactions to chemicals in the dye. Even if you’ve done your own coloring a thousand times, it is still very important to test a small section of hair.

Drying… When blow-drying your hair, first try pinning the majority of your hair atop your head. Start by drying the bottom section of hair and gradually release additional sections of hair from the clip. Continue drying your hair in sections until it is completely dry.

Five Beauty Tips for First Dates

Ah, first dates. They can be intimidating, exhilarating…even completely mortifying. To pump yourself up for the big event, spend a little extra time primping and planning. Pamper yourself with a bubble bath. Listen to some music. Indulge in a glass of wine to calm your nerves. Dates are meant to be fun for both parties, so lighten up, loosen up and let the preparation games begin!

1.    If you’re fishing for some kissing, keep those lips glistening. Apply your favorite lip-gloss or Chap Stick as needed. Sparkles and added shine draw more attention to just how kissable your lips really are! Don’t skimp on the tasty lip treats…you may not be the only one enjoying them!

2.    For the ultimate mysterious guise, accentuate your eyes. Many people consider the eyes to be the window to one’s soul. With a language all their own, eyes convey every emotion – joy, sorrow, uncertainty, nervousness, mischievousness, sarcasm and on down the line.

Let your eyes engage their own conversation with your date, thanks to a special flair and style stemming right back to your choice of mascara, eye shadow and eyeliner. Select shades that complement your skin tone as well as your wardrobe, and apply enough to be noticed, but not too much to be overwhelming. Lengthen and thicken your lashes with a bold mascara and swipe on a little eye shadow to bring some color into the equation. Use eyeliner to emphasize your eyes, bringing their intensity up just a bit.

3.    Got a blemish? Fret not. Some concealer and pressed powder can save the day. Zits happen. We’ve all had them, and we’ll probably see many more of them in our days. Now, unless you’ve got the honker of all honkers, chances are you’re more than likely overreacting to the situation at hand. Have you ever noticed when a friend exclaims something like, “Oh my gosh, can you believe the size of this sucker?!” – sometimes you still can’t see the blemish, even after she points it out to you? It may be true that we are always more critical of ourselves, sometimes to the point of excess.

To help erase the unsightly mark on your face, try a drop of Visine to get the red out, or apply a solution containing benzoyl peroxide. Once the area dries, apply concealer to the affected area and blend it in as best you can. Now apply the pressed powder to your entire face, step back and examine the damage. Most times, this method clears up the spot enough that you’d have to be looking for the blemish in order to identify it.

4.    Select a sexy fragrance and flaunt it.
If scent truly is the strongest sense tied to memory, choice of fragrance can be an invaluable factor in your preparation for the big night. If you end up connecting with your date, you will probably want to instill a completely sensual and mind-blowing impression on him. Do this effortlessly with a perfume you love – and one he won’t be able to get enough of!

5.    Pack a “beauty survival kit” and keep it with you, just in case. This kit should contain all emergency items and still fit safely out of sight, inside your purse. Consider including items like dental floss and/or toothpicks for stubborn broccoli, tissues, eye drops, aspirin (in case your date drives you bonkers), and toiletries in case of a surprise visit. If you are driving separately and meeting somewhere, you may wish to keep an extra pair of pantyhose in your car in case your skirt or dress gets a runner.

Your Very Own Beauty Survival Kit – Don’t leave home without these items…

Whether you have the job interview of a lifetime, a hot date or merely a night out on the town, countless beauty snafus may be lurking just around the corner! Don’t fall victim to some of womankind’s oldest enemies…instead, be ready and armed for whatever beauty blunders may await.

Different situations may call for suitable actions, so consider your destination and any possible snafus that may come up while you are there.

At a very bare minimum, your beauty survival kit should include the following:

+ Dental floss and toothpick – A single strand of floss coiled up and tucked away can really save the day in case your romantic candlelit dinner for two becomes a dinner for three, if you count the broccoli between your teeth as a single entity! A toothpick may also be a good item to include for dental hygiene purposes away from home.

+ Clear lip gloss or ChapStick – no matter how kissably soft you know your lips are, it can never hurt to add some moisture and shine with a deliciously flavored lip gloss. Applying gloss in front of your date may even entice him to test out your soft and supple lips!

+ Mini mouthwash – Fresh breath in an instant! Just take a small swig of mouthwash after dinner or before you head out the door. Chase the taste of your lunch, dinner or even strong coffee away with a quick rinse with some minty mouthwash.

+ Mini trial size perfume spritzer – freshen up anytime you like by carrying a miniature purse-sized fragrance spritzer with you. Scent is often considered the sense most tied to memory, so let your fragrance linger and leave a lasting impression wherever you go!

+ Hairspray or gel – Long events often leave much room for hair calamities to engage by the end of the night. If you simply can’t stand to have a single hair out of place, it is in your best interests to pack a miniature bottle of hairspray or gel. Just a spritz here or a dab there will fix any potential problems before anyone else even notices!

+ Visine and pressed powder – Did you know that Visine doesn’t just “get the red out” of your eyes? A tiny drop applied to a bright red blemish can often tone down the abrasive color, which can then be further diminished with a gentle blotting of pressed powder complementary to your skin tone. A concealer stick may also come in handy!

+ Tissues – You never know when your allergies might act up or a sudden event may cause the waterworks to spring a leak. By prepared to sop up any unexpected tears with a few tissues packed handily inside your pocketbook.

+ Miniature bottle of lotion
– Whether dry hands or peeling skin from harsh sunburn ail you, ward off any unsightly flakes with a few drops of your favorite lotion in a travel-sized bottle. In the dire absence of hairspray or gel, you can also use a tiny bit of lotion to smooth down fly-aways and cowlicks.

For more exclusive events and outings, you may wish to include:

+ Extra pantyhose or at least clear nail polish – The last thing you want to deal with is a runner in your pantyhose when you’re off to nail that job interview so you can get your foot in the door of your dream occupational field. Worse yet, imagine being in the bridal party with short gowns and a foot-long runner from just above your ankle to your knee! Always be prepared, even if it means stashing an extra pair of hose in your car’s glove box.

+ Toothbrush and toothpaste – Keeping your choppers a pretty pearly white can really be a daunting task if you are on the run all the time. Why not buy an extra toothbrush and tube of toothpaste to keep with you in your car, or in your purse when you know you’ll need it? Fresh breath and clean teeth can be yours all the time, even if it does mean brushing away in the office restroom!

* * *
Depending on the size of your purse, you may wish to compile your own beauty survival kit and store it all inside a zippered pouch that you can bring with you from place to place. Keeping a number of these items, if not all of them, in your vehicle is a great idea – especially if you travel a good deal. Add your own beauty items to the pouch to create the ultimate survival kit especially for you!

Wedding Makeup Tips for Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom

Wedding day makeup holds such an important place in the routine of getting ready for your child’s special day. If you are the mother of the bride or mother of the groom seeking wedding day makeup tips, you’ll probably find that professional makeup artists, salon pros, and makeup salespeople may all share a different opinion as far as the kind of makeup the bride’s mother or groom’s mother should wear.

Not to worry – the most important thing you must do in choosing your makeup as mother of the bride or mother of the groom is to choose cosmetics that feel comfortable and look natural on your face. This can be a breeze with the right knowledge, experience, or the right experts available to assist you.

Read on for mother of the bride and mother of the groom makeup tips for using foundation, blush, lipstick, and more. Don’t forget to pick up a few skincare tips for bride’s mom and groom’s mom so your skin can be soft and glowing on your child’s wedding day.

Foundation, Moisturizer, and Skin Tips for Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom
Remember, as mother of the bride or mother of the groom, your face is going to show up in many photographs and possibly on video. You want to cover any blemishes, disguise any lines or wrinkles, and yet maintain a natural appearance throughout the affair. This won’t be as difficult as it may sound if you follow a few tips from the experts.

“For moms, I like to always use a liquid foundation,” says Sonia Roselli of Sonia Roselli Esthetique. “I don’t like to over powder them with minerals or heavy powder because it shows fine lines and wrinkles. I love liquid foundation for anyone over 35. I also don’t recommend minerals for wedding day photos anyway.”

In addition to choosing the right makeup, moms of the bride and groom will also want to have a few skincare products on hand to keep their faces smooth and hydrated.

“I think skin is the greatest canvas to great makeup,” Roselli shares. “If they are dry but their skin is good, using a foundation mixed with their moisturizer, they can make a sheer foundation tint. I like to apply with a foundation brush to give an airbrush appearance.”

Depending on the type of wedding, some skincare products may be more useful to you than others. For example, if your child is getting married at a tropical destination, you might consider a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen so you can look great while also protecting your skin from the UV rays.

If you’d rather try a proven product than creating your own tinted foundation tint moisturizer, one product to consider is Become’s Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 30+. This product is available in three skin tone choices – Light, Medium, and Dark. Become’s Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 30+ is water-resistant for up to three hours and acts as a three-in-one product, as it contains moisturizer, sheer makeup, and sunblock.

Makeup Tips for Lips and Eyes for Bride’s Mother and Groom’s Mother
As an important mother at your child’s wedding, don’t forget to pick out the perfect shade for your smooch. You’ll want to keep your lips glossy, soft, and smooth throughout the wedding, with a touch of color to bring a little attention to the right areas.

“For moms it is crucial to wear a cream lipstick or a gloss,” says Roselli. “Mattes are very aging as are too dark a lip color. Go for one or two shades deeper of their natural lip tone for the freshest look but to pop in photos. Also keeping the lips very glossy will instantly take 10 years off.”

As mom to the bride or groom, you might be wondering whether you should put the most emphasis on your lips or your eyes. This is a common conundrum that many women ponder over and over again. When it comes to wedding makeup for mother of the bride and mother of the groom, Makeup Artist Vanessa Elese recommends focusing on the eyes.

“Oftentimes a mouth can be overstated,” Elese says. “Unless it is a themed wedding, I would suggest keeping the mouth a soft luscious nude/pink or coral and focusing on the eyes. With such a momentous day, the eyes are truly the ‘windows to the soul.’ Make sure you magnify your best assets, capturing the celebratory day!”

Hassle-Free Beauty Tips for Hardworking Women

Working fulltime and trying to raise a family does not leave much energy or time to worry about one’s makeup. For professional females, getting dolled up for work and play may have become a thing of the past long ago. With just a few spare moments, though, quick and easy beauty tricks can refresh a woman’s look instantly.

For those playing double (or triple) roles as corporate professional and wife and/or mother, applying makeup before starting the day may be the last thing on their minds. Check out the following tips for a new beauty regimen in less than five minutes!

Blemishes and dark spots…
Even if you do not have enough time for anything else, use a concealer stick, cover-up or powder makeup to mask blemishes and dark circles under your eyes. Concealing unsightly marks on one’s face should take about one to two minutes if only treating specific problem areas. Visine eye drops may be applied to reduce redness of blemishes before applying concealer.

Eyes…
A single coat of mascara will only take about one moment per eye, giving just enough definition to lashes, bringing out your eyes. A soft dusting of eye shadow in a complementary shade to one’s choice of apparel will further enhance the eyes. Putting on eye color should take no more than a few seconds, though mascara alone is a good substitute if time does not permit eye shadow application.

Lips…
For a soft, kissable look, slap some flavored or tinted lip-gloss on your lips. Lipstick or lip stain will draw more attention to your lips than lip-gloss, but either product will make a difference in the way you look and feel.

Hair…
Invest in a few hairpins, clips and decorative sticks. Some types of hair accessories allow women to twist their hair up and pin it back, all in about 30 seconds. Spray gel or non-sticky hairspray may also come in handy in order to preserve the style and to secure fly-aways.

Finally, splash on some body spray or perfume and get ready to head out the door. By sparing only five to seven minutes in the morning, your new quick and easy makeup plan can be modified to fit your own beauty sense while giving you a simple foundation to effortless beautification.

Beauty Guide for Professional Career Women

Finding a few moments to ourselves proves quite the daunting task anymore. With places to go, people to see, presentations to make and happy hours to enjoy, getting dolled up sometimes becomes more of a hassle than it’s worth…or so it seems.

When you add up all the minutes it takes to select an outfit, accessorize with the right purse and appropriate jewelry, dry and style your hair, apply makeup and dash out the door, before you know it you’re running late again. The problem is this: You want to look great but you don’t want to spend a near-lifetime getting ready.

The solution? Pick and choose which elements of your appearance are most important to you. Once you’ve prioritized, you can really achieve the look you want in less time. For example, let’s say you care about clothes, hair, makeup, and jewelry, in that order.

How can you make the most of your time without leaving out a key element? Well, for starters, select your outfit the night before, even if it means trying things on at 10 or 11 o’clock at night. You want your hair to look nice, so try to have an idea of style – up or down – before you get out of the shower. Make it our goal to know exactly how you want to do your hair once you dry it.

Next, critically consider how much makeup you really need to wear. On days when I’m feeling especially lazy, I typically slap on some mascara and my favorite flavored lip-gloss and head out the door. If I have blemishes to hide, I definitely take care of those first. Finally, when it comes to jewelry, you can throw on something basic and simple that goes with anything, or you can forego the adornments altogether.

Here are some fast, last-minute beauty tips for busy career women:

DO:

–    Carry a powder compact at all times. If you don’t have time for makeup, you’ll be happy to at least dust some powder on your cheeks and forehead. If your company throws a last minute photo shoot at you, your compact will save your tail.

–    Keep a lip-gloss or Chap Stick handy at all times. Not only does it make you so much more kissable should your sweetheart pop into the office for a surprise visit, but you’ll be keeping your smackers safe from chapping, splitting and dryness associate with both hot and cold climates. Even without a true color lipstick, lip-gloss can make you feel sexy and so worth it.

–    Invest in some hair accessories, especially claw clips, hairpins and other barrettes. Even if you don’t have the time to fashion a new look, twist your hair back and pin it to your head for a sweeping look. Some hair clips will allow you to pile all of your hair on top of your head effortlessly. This comes in very handy when you don’t have time to dry your hair completely.

–    Make your manicures last longer by applying clear polish every so often. With such a busy schedule, it is amazing you have your nails done in the first place. To keep your pretty look alive as long as possible, apply a clear topcoat daily to prevent the nail polish from cracking and chipping.

DON’T:

–    Even think about doing your makeup “in the car.” Even if you are stopped at a red light, the minimal time you have between lights isn’t nearly enough to apply mascara, let alone foundation or anything else. Especially don’t try to paint your nails in the car!

–    Go too heavy on the hues… If you’re doing a dark, intense look for your eyes, avoid going high-impact on your mouth.

Beauty Forecast: Pierce Mattie PR Names the Top 10 Ingredient Trends

In previous years the beauty industry transitioned into the importance of being all natural with products ranging from skin care to spa treatments to hair care to cosmetics. This year the focus will no longer just being about who is green or all natural, but about specific ingredients and their benefits.

Pierce Mattie (www.piercemattie.com) is known for forecasting trends in the beauty industry, so without missing a beat, the Beauty PR firm names the top 10 ingredients that consumers will hear more about throughout 2009.

Argan Oil: This incredible skin care miracle, known for being one of the richest natural sources of Vitamin E with 80% essential fatty acids, has been a beauty secret of Moroccan women for centuries. It can be dually used on skin and in hair for its high level of antioxidants and ability to replenish hair and skin’s natural moisture.

Acai: Sometimes referred to as “The Fountain of Youth,” this Brazilian berry contains antioxidants, amino acids, essential omegas, fibers and protein that positions itself as a formidable fighter in anti-aging products. Acai can be found across the board in skin care, cosmetics and hair care products.

Goji Berries: This nutrient-rich berry, well known as Wolfberries in the Himalayas, has often been called a “super food” due to its abilities to fight free radicals and boost the immune system. While there are no inherent benefits of Goji in fragrance, that hasn’t stopped perfumers from including this sweet yet tart scent into their perfumes.

Baobab: Rich in riboflavin, niacin and vitamins C, A, D and E, baobab has incredible anti-aging properties although you won’t just find it in creams and moisturizers, but also in exfoliating scrubs and hair care.

Acerola: Ingredients high in Vitamin C, like acerola, are being used more often due to their ability to even out skin tone and brighten complexion. Skin care brands will be using acerola more to target those who have issues with skin redness and inflammation.

Blueberry: Chock full of amino acids, vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids, blueberries are another super food that will be used to fight aging in beauty products. Also known as a “super fruit,” blueberries have long been known for its ability to revitalize the skin; it was just a matter of time before beauty brands began to incorporate it more into their skin care products.

Probiotics: Last year Pierce Mattie PR termed probiotics a “buzzword” among beauty brands, but now those brands are delivering more than just buzz with this sister category to Cosmeceuticals and Nutraceuticals. Probiotic skin care will be branded as another “clinical-like” line of products, which beauty consumers tend to lean towards as science-based.

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-3: This Cosmeceutical that is becoming found more often in anti-aging products to fight fine lines and wrinkles will be even more prevalent in 2009. Products that contain Palmitoyl Tripeptide-3 will be branded as a temporary alternative to cosmetic procedures.

Myrrh: With the increasing popularity of Ayurveda in the Unites States, this ancient ingredient is also resurging in perfumes and skin care products. The rich royal resin with the slight vanilla fragrance so popular in incense also stimulates circulation and has lifting effects.

Turmeric: A highly regarded ingredient in India, Turmeric is widely known for its medicinal properties. Turmeric will be found in acne-related creams and lotions, as it is an antiseptic and can aid in preventing and removing blemishes. It will also be found in hair removal products as well as in the formulation of sunscreen in more natural products as well.
