Romantic Summer Hairstyles

Out with the cold, in with the humid! Warm weather brings us wonderful opportunities for things to do outside in the sunshine, but also sends us a few curve balls when it comes to keeping our appearance—and especially our hair—intact. Summertime often mixes up humidity in the air, intense thunderstorms, hot and sticky weather, and of course, salt and sea. Even the chlorine from swimming pools can take its toll on our locks, leaving hair dry and dull. Thankfully, a few simple tips can help you to still achieve sexy and romantic summer hairstyles no matter what the weather.

No matter what your hair color, you can find a perfect summer hairstyle to suit your mood and personality. Try these quick and easy tips to get gorgeous hair that looks great for any occasion this summer and beyond.

Volume All the Way
Girls with fine hair can especially appreciate this summer hairstyle tip for getting more volume and body in your hair. After your shower, gently towel off your hair a bit and then apply a golf ball sized amount of mousse to your hair, starting from the roots down. (I’ve been using Suave Professionals Volumizing Mousse.) If you have it, apply some root boosting spray (My pick is John Frieda Luxurious Volume Lavish Lift Root Booster.) Next, blow-dry your hair upside-down using the normal heat setting. Finish with a moment or two on the cool setting, and style as desired. Spritz with a light finishing spray to hold everything in place and enjoy your new-found body and volume!

Waves and Curls
We think it’s safe to say that waves and curls will be here to stay as far as romantic summer hairstyles go. No matter if you sport sexy red hair, black hair, blonde hair, or brown hair, a wavy or curly hairstyle can be just what you need to spice up your summer. Try a set of hot rollers to give your hair some shape and dimension. Add a sweet hair accessory like a bow or a romantic hairclip to enhance your look. You can also place a flower behind your ear for a true hint of exotic romance.

Sweet and Flowing
Face it, lots of guys love long and flowing hair that teases as it drifts in the breeze. Fight the urge to go with a ponytail for the sixth day in a row and go for a long, straight hairstyle. Bust out your flatiron if you need it, have your best hair products on hand, and take the needed steps to nail down a look that leaves you looking like you just stepped out of a fairy tale.

You may also benefit from a blow-drying technique that smoothes your air nicely as it dries. Towel-dry your hair for a few minutes first. Then, pin most of your hair atop your head. Starting at the back of your head, blow-dry sections of hair about two inches wide and not very thick. Use a round brush with a metal insert to curl the ends under or flip them out, if you like. Keep setting free small sections of hair to blow-dry until your entire head of hair is dried and smooth. This beautiful look should last fairly well, but consider spraying a touch of finishing spray if you think you’ll need it.

When all else fails, you can also twist your hair into a messy bun or toss it up into a ponytail. These looks make it easy to look great, whether you’re a mom on the go or a busy career woman hopping between conferences, trainings, and life in the fast lane. A fancy alligator hairclip can be a wonderful accessory for any woman and you’ll more than likely get your money’s worth if you choose one that you can wear for work or for play.

These are just a few ideas for fun and romantic summer hairstyles. What is your favorite hairdo to wear in the summertime? What do you think of these tips? Feel free to share your thoughts in our comments below.

Clear 7-Day Scalp & Hair Challenge & Product Review

As a new mom, I have a newfound appreciation for shower time. Even more than before, I enjoy products with rich lather, intoxicatingly wonderful fragrances, and no-nonsense results. I don’t have time to mess with products that don’t offer at least one, if not all three, of these desirable characteristics.

I recently received Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner products (from Unilever) as well as a beautiful brush to set me up for Clear’s 7-Day Scalp & Hair Challenge. The challenge aimed to help women achieve stronger, more beautiful hair in 7 days, guaranteed (due to less breakage when combing vs. non-conditioning shampoo). The challenge also informed us that the scalp provides 99% of hair’s natural strength and beauty. The products in this challenge, Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy™ shampoo and conditioner, contain a rich blend of vitamins and nutrients, 10 to be precise, known as Nutrium10.

On first use, I really enjoyed the fragrance of the Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy shampoo and conditioner products. The scent reminds me of old school herbal essences in the yellow bottle. I believe I may have said this after a previous experience with the Clear products, but it’s true! I really enjoy using them for that reason. Each day I enjoy the fragrance as well as the other benefits these products provide.

The shampoo produces a rich lather that leaves my hair and scalp feeling super clean. The suds work their magic and then wash effortlessly out of my hair. Same with the conditioner, which smoothes onto my hair so nicely and rinses out cleanly. It’s rare to find a product that leaves your hair just feeling “wet” when you step out of the shower, but this duo does it. No greasy residue, no weighted-down feeling.

As far as whether these made my hair stronger and more beautiful, it’s hard to say. I have to admit my hair seems a bit dry lately, so I think the winter has really wreaked some havoc on my locks. No way to blame that on products or expect products to do a miraculous turnaround in just a week of use. I don’t think I’ve ever had a real problem with breakage, though, which is a great thing. I’ve seen a conditioning mask by Clear and I’m curious if something like that might be the answer to the dryness my hair’s suffering right now. Will keep you posted if I find a suitable fix!

All in all, I am very pleased with my experience in using Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy™ shampoo and conditioner. I would recommend this team of products for anyone who wants a shampoo and conditioner that smells great, lathers well, and rinses away clean, leaving hair very soft and manageable. You can find Clear products starting around $4.79 and up at your favorite mass market retail stores, pharmacies, and on For more information, check out and

Rants and Raves – Size Lies

Bikini-sizeAlways petite, I’ve found myself struggling from time to time to find clothing that fits just right. Whether it’s the extreme lengths of jeans that doesn’t quite work for my shorter legs or the fact that bra and panty sets and above all, bikinis, many times come paired with the same size already as a set – Small, Medium, Large, or XL, completely ignoring the fact that just because some women are shorter, slim, or under average in overall size, DOES NOT MEAN that their boobs are microscopic or that they haven’t at least got a few curves of their own.

I may be speaking for myself here, but I’ve noticed this on many occasions over the past decade or so. Maybe not so much now, as my work ethic allows me to bring in enough of an income to buy separates, but for a long time it really annoyed me that one size does not fit all when it comes to pairing up bras and undies or bikini tops and bottoms.

Also, have you ever noticed that a lot of stores do the layout of their store racks from S, M, L, XL, and those with two-tier racks often start with small on the top, then medium next to small, then large and XL on the bottom rack. Think about it – if you are selling clothing to a person who is “small” — most times said person is not so well endowed in the height attribute!! So I find myself craning and stretching to reach up to the high racks to get a look at those size small clothing items, which if I owned the store, would very nicely accommodate those of shorter status by sitting on display across racks they could reach.

Well, there’s my soap box for the day. What do you think? Have you ever felt this way about clothing sizes? Sound off in our comments about your own thoughts on the sizing situation!

Must-Have Beauty

If you could only use one cosmetics product for the rest of your life, what would it be? From eyeliner and mascara to pressed powder, concealer, lip balm, and more, we’ve got a lot of choices when it comes to favorite makeup items to consider. Women can find so many modern conveniences in the wide selection of beauty products available to us, from making our lashes longer and more beautiful to adding a pop of color here and there.

Not to mention, we can also enjoy a variety of items that are pleasurable to use on a daily basis for the benefits they provide. Personally, I can’t go a day without some sort of lip balm, ChapStick, or other delightful product that keeps my lips soft, smooth, kissable, and hydrated. I also enjoy the protection from the sun when I choose lip balms with SPF 15 included.

Some of my favorite lip balm products include the Alba lineup with Coconut Creme and Pineapple flavors, and the Blistex Fruit Smoothies collection, featuring a wonderful purple berry lip balm. You can read about some more ChapSticks, Lip Balms, and Lip Glosses to Love if you, too, are a lip product fan above all else.

Although, my lashes aren’t quite as long, dark, or voluminous as I’d like, so I’m not sure I could live without mascara, either. It would really be a toss-up for me and I’m not sure which one I’d pick. I think it’s safe to say these are my two favorite beauty items, so perhaps that is the better question — what is your favorite cosmetics item? Or if you can narrow it down, which one could you never live without?

ChapStick Cupcake Creations Product Review – Velvet Cupcake and Cake Batter Lip Balm

Chapstick Cupcake CreationsAnyone who knows me or reads my articles knows how obsessed I am with lip balms, lip glosses, and ChapStick style products for lips. I love the flavors and how soft and kissable your lips remain after product use. I am always on the lookout for new flavors, with some of my all-time favorites being raspberry, coconut, strawberry kiwi, and chocolate varieties. In case you haven’t heard—or even if you have; it’s well worth repeating—ChapStick brings two delectable new flavors to its offerings: Velvet Cupcake and Cake Batter, in its Cupcake Creations product line.

I received two sample ChapSticks in each flavor, as well as a gourmet cupcake mix and cute party supplies to tie it all together. (If only my daughter were a year older – I am sure she would love to have a little birthday party for one of her stuffed animals!) [FTC disclaimer – While I am thrilled to be able to partner with ChapStick to get my hands on these yummy lip goodies right away, my review is what it is, my honest feelings about the product. Don’t think I’m swayed by the special delivery! ]

That being said, I am so excited about these new flavors! I have always loved baked goods, and who doesn’t love cupcakes?! What I think I love most is that ChapStick acknowledges that not all people are vanilla cake fans or chocolate cake fans (or Red Velvet, etc.), but these yummy lip balms cater to both the vanilla and the chocolate camps. The Velvet Cupcake is by far my favorite, purely because I love chocolate and anything similar to it. I think the flavor and fragrance really do capture the essence of a red velvet cake or cupcake, so if you love these, don’t miss out on this new ChapStick!

The Cake Batter flavor is also delicious, and sure to be a big hit for vanilla fans and anyone who enjoys a little cake batter flavoring. (Who can wait all that time for the cake to bake, anyway!?) Those who simply enjoy all things vanilla will also appreciate this lip balm and its delightful and realistic scent and flavor. It reminds me of a Tahitian Vanilla candle I have just about burned to the bottom due to its lovely, aromatic fragrance.

Like all ChapStick products, these sweet flavors moisten our lips and keep them feeling soft and smooth. After using either flavor, my lips feel hydrated and glossy—such a great feeling, especially this time of year. I like to reapply whenever I think of it, so I always keep one or the other in my pocket and my purse. These sweet lip treats are too good to keep all to yourself, and so I actually shared my second set with my mom. These lip balms come in packaging that features a little gift tag design on the back, making them easily giftable or a great accent to a wrapped package.

Velvet Cupcake and Cake Batter are both limited edition flavors, so be sure to get yours before they run their course. The Cupcake Creations collection launched February 1, 2013 and should be available until approximately March 31, 2013. This collection sells exclusively at CVS, Wal-Mart, and Walgreens stores across the country.

Hairstyles of the 1930’s

Glamour With Feathers by RgbspaceJean Harlow, a famous actress of the era known as the blonde bombshell, played the leading actress in a romantic comedy rightfully named, “Platinum Blonde” in 1932. Little did she know that she was shaping the 30’s hairstyles, as men and women around the nation were going wild for her “bleached-blonde hair.”  Apparently not for the same reasons, women around the nation began dying their hair with peroxide and the men surely didn’t seem to object.  Although the platinum-blonde look was not for everybody, it created the bleaching era, which would lead to many distinct new hairstyles and colors for the new decade.

In the 1920s the popular “bob” gave hairstylists a short-lived, new beginning for their businesses. The naturally short nature of the bob cut or style required frequent trimming to maintain the proper appearance and shape. Therefore, it was crucial for the “bobbed” women to visit the salon way more often than before. Due to the worsening economic state of our nation at that time, the bob lost popularity in the early 1930s, “cutting in” a new era of longer, more traditional styles that were less expensive, but yet very attractive. However, unwilling to surrender the “hair freedom” they had gained in the 20’s, women remained loyal to their own hair salons.

Hair care innovations of the time were rapidly coming of age. Women with longer haircuts could opt to pull their hair back into a low bun. Achieving this look is pretty simple, just by combing your hair straight back from the face, and gathering most of the hair into a ponytail and wrapping it around either side to form a bun.

The 30’s hairstyle would benefit from advancements in many areas of hair care including hair products and hair styles. Shampoos for various hair types and textures weren’t available previously, but now they were beginning to be introduced to the public at an alarming rate. Major advancements in technology occurred with the invention of various hair-styling tools like the curling iron and additions to the permanent wave machine. Fashionable hairstyles in the ’30s would prove to survive longer than the short bob cut of the previous decade, so up-dos became popular.

A surprising new look that came about around the early 1930’s is the finger wave. Finger waves are incredibly difficult to create outside the salon. They are created literally by hand with each curly strand being sculpted by wrapping the hair around the finger while curling. It may sound incredibly easy, but many hairdressers today cannot do them. Creating finger waves is a highly skilled practical craft and having this “old Hollywood glamour hair” process done to your hair is time consuming and a little more expensive. If you want to try something different or perhaps start your own trend, it is best to seek out hairstylists or salons that specialize in old Hollywood hairstyles. They will surely make you feel as glamorous as a 1930’s Hollywood starlet.

Aquaphor Products for Adults and Babies to Ward off Winter Skin

Aquaphor Advanced TherapyWhen the weather turns cold, I find myself battling dry skin with the best of them. My poor hands crack and become so sore, probably a result of washing the dishes every day and not applying enough moisturizer. This winter greeted me with especially bad dry skin, leaving my hands dull and even a bit whiter than usual, especially in the creases between fingers. Thankfully, with enough trial and error I have found a few products that really work for me and my dry winter skin!

My former colleague and friend first introduced me to Eucerin Calming Crème Daily Moisturizer, which I’ve loved ever since. This is your basic skin cream that really does seem to hydrate the skin for longer than average. When our daughter was born last year, our friends introduced us to Aquaphor Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy for babies, also from Eucerin. We’ve really enjoyed this product as it seems to have an almost-instant effect on tiny scratches and other irritations. A little bit really goes a long way, and the product smoothes on effortlessly, moisturizing and bringing the skin relief.

Aquaphor Healing Ointment can treat diaper rash, minor cuts, scrapes, burns, chapped or cracked skin and lips, chafed skin, and also protects from the winter’s harsh drying conditions. This baby healing ointment contains Petrolatum, mineral oil, ceresin, lanolin alcohol, panthenol, glycerin, and bisabolol. A 3 oz. container will last you nearly an eternity unless you douse your entire baby in this special restoring cream.

Lip Repair + ProtectI received a generous shipment of two of these baby healing ointments from Aquaphor, along with baby Gentle Wash & Shampoo, and of course, two grown-up Aquaphor products for me to enjoy. I am thrilled to share that Aquaphor Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy (for adults) also offers great benefits to adult skin. As I mentioned, my hands become extremely dry this time of year. I have recently begun using the healing ointment to treat the dry patches and even a few cracked skin spots. The ointment instantly coats my skin and brings me relief from the dry winter conditions.

I find that I have a bit of a personal aversion to the texture of petrolatum-based products, so I actually follow up my application of the healing ointment with the previously mentioned Eucerin Calming Crème. It adds a nice dose of moisture to my entire hands while the rich and emollient Aquaphor Healing Ointment cares for my dry spots and cracked skin. In my experience with winter skin, I find that the rich, emollient products containing petrolatum, urea, and similar ingredients tend to have the biggest impact on healing and hydrating the skin. I know not everyone minds the waxy texture, so the product in and of itself is perfect! I honestly think I just like for my hands to soak up as much lotion as possible, so applying both really works well for me.

I can’t recommend this healing ointment enough, and if you need an everyday lotion, I highly recommend the Calming Crème as well. I bought mine at CVS, but you can get a bottle of these products at your favorite pharmacy, superstore, or online at Amazon and similar retailers.

I also received a tube of Aquaphor Lip Repair + Protect and for me it is love at first application. This lip treatment goes on creamy and smooth, quickly protecting and repairing any cracks, chapped areas, and dry spots on your lips. I love how the feeling lasts, too. It isn’t like standard lip balm products where you have to reapply every five minutes to feel it is working. This lip treatment and repair cream offers immediate relief and I can only imagine it would be my go-to product for sunburned lips or windburn as well. This lip repair cream is designed for severely dry lips and it’s easy to see why, from your very first time using it.

While I don’t think there’s a real taste, it has a pleasant, neutral presence on the lips. Aquaphor Lip Repair + Protect also contains broad spectrum SPF 30, to protect you whether you are at the beach or on the ski slopes. Make sure to apply it 15 minutes before sun exposure for best results, and also reapply every two hours or after swimming or perspiring. This lip treatment is fragrance free and designed for sensitive skin. I look forward to a winter (and spring, and summer, and fall…) of more comfortable, kissable lips, thanks to this rich and hydrating repair cream from Aquaphor.

If you liked these products, stay tuned for another review featuring Aquaphor’s baby shampoo!

Looking Good On The Go and Arriving In Style

Woman and Business Travel by zoomteamWhether you travel first class or budget, most people arrive at their destination looking rather disheveled. After all, traveling can be a stressful experience, and being stuck on a crowded plane or boat is enough to make the most glamorous woman feel frazzled. However, there are ways to avoid that ‘just arrived’ look, and with a few beauty tips you can reach your destination looking fabulous.

Time your sleep

If your journey crosses time zones, then a well-timed nap could be just what you need to avoid looking jet lagged on arrival. If you’re lucky enough to be in first class, or on a luxury cruise, then getting some shut eye should be easy. However, for those of you stuck in economy class, it can be difficult to sleep in such a crowded and noisy environment. Bring along an eye mask, noise canceling headphones, and a neck pillow to get yourself as cozy as possible. As soon as you get on the plane, set your watch or phone to the local time of your destination and then act as if you were already in the time zone. This will mean you’re more in sync when you arrive, avoiding that groggy look. Don’t worry if you can’t manage a full eight hours on your journey, studies have shown that even a power nap of a couple of hours can improve your alertness, and will keep you going when you reach your destination.

Everyone knows that awful, worn out feeling you get after a long flight. One of the main causes of this is dehydration, and it’s due to the air on board not being humidified. This leaves your skin dried out and your body vulnerable to a host of illnesses, not to mention making you feel terrible. As tough as it is, avoid the temptations of alcohol and caffeine on board. They will make you even more dehydrated and leave you feeling bloated and terrible. Try to avoid the junk food that’s always offered on board, as the high salt content will also make you thirsty and bloated. As well as drinking water, invest in a good facial spray and lip balm to put in your hand luggage. This will perk you up naturally and help you feel slightly more glamorous when mid-air.

Minimize your make up

No matter how skilled you are with a mascara brush, pretty much any make up will look dreadful after a long journey. Some women make the mistake of applying these long-lasting products, thinking they can survive hours of naps, dehydration, and runny eyes, only to find that they have been let down. The best thing to do is limit the amount of make up you wear on your travels. Apply some light foundation, tinted lip balm and maybe some clear mascara before your journey. Keep some make up removing wipes in your handbag, preferably ones which act as a moisturizer, and give your face a wipe before you go to sleep. This will avoid any clogged pores which could lead to post-travel breakouts. When you’re close to reaching your destination, you can then nip to the bathroom to re-apply your light make up, ensuring you arrive fresh faced and gorgeous.

Comfortable clothing

Staying comfortable on a plane doesn’t mean you have to resort to sweatpants and sneakers. There are plenty of options for clothing that looks good, yet can survive a long trip. If you’re going straight from your train, plane, or boat journey to a meeting or event, then it’s important to wear something that will be crease-free on arrival. Fabrics such as silk jersey look good, and can survive even hours of tossing and turning. A simple wrap dress can be dressed up or down, and even with some comfortable low heels it’s a glamorous choice. If you want to go more casual, then opt for light layers in easy to wear fabrics. Jeggings, a light sweater, and comfortable flats is a simple outfit, suitable for the longest of journeys, and will usually make it to your destination looking neat.

Traveling can be tough on your body, but there are many ways you can minimize the negative effects. By following these simple tips, you’ll arrive at your destination looking well-rested, and ready for business, pleasure, or whatever is thrown your way.

Pretty Nail Art Ideas

Painting Nails by PixelandsoulEvery woman should allow her nails to make a fashion statement by decorating them with pretty nail art ideas. Creating beautiful fingernail art designs can be achieved with only a little effort and patience.  You can create nail art designs that are perfect for that special occasion. Apart from accessorizing your wardrobe, the nail art ideas will also express your individuality and complement your personality. These designs range from subtle to simple to elegant, quirky or even bold. If you wish to get in the holiday mood, you need to allow your nails to be part of the celebration with one of the many designs.

One nail art that is common and a favorite for most women is the French nails design.  This nail art is admired both for its simplicity and the elegance that it exudes.  With the French manicure, the tip of your nail is painted with a white nail polish. Depending on your available budget, you can opt to try out the different variations of the French manicure. You have the option of either using the different materials available or nail coatings, such as nail acrylics, gel, or even air polish, all depending on your individual taste. Other French manicure designs come with flower decorations or cartoon character designs. Check online for the latest designs and decorations of French manicure designs.

It is now possible to keep up with the trends with fashion nails without emptying your paycheck. A spectacular manicure does not have to be complicated or even cost a fortune. The 3D nail design is a hot trend that will leave your nails looking glamorous. It is fun to experiment with different polish colors and different nail designs as often as you like. Alternatively you can allow the style that suits you best to be your signature look, though it is important that you match your nails with your outfit if you want to get noticed.

Some nail polish designs are definitely more beautiful than others. To come up with the best designs, you should go for a long-lasting nail polish. Though a little bit expensive, they are worth the cost because they are perfect for a woman who wants to be creative with designs; they go on smoother but still do not chip. It is a perfect idea to go for nail designs that are original. For example, at Christmastime, you can have your nails painted with a moon, star, and Christmas tree to tell it all. To make your nails striking at all times, you can get the best nail polish online. Here you may find your favorite right off the bat or have fun trying a few different types.

The Catwalk Collection by TIGI

TIGI Haute Iron spray

In case you’re not in the know, TIGI is a renowned hair care brand that offers the coolest variety of products. Of these, the most notable may be their Bed Head product line that helps perfect the I-rolled-out-of-bed-like-this look.

If you are desiring dramatic hairstyles like those of the designer fashion, I’d like to point you in the direction of the Catwalk line. This line has been seen on the runways for collections by Chris Benz, Laura Siegel, Ann Yee, and more. Catwalk by TIGI is not just limited to the coifs of supermodels; this collection is available for purchase and to find a home in your hair care collection.

I received two samples from the line to try out for myself- the Haute Iron Spray and the Finishing Hairspray. From start to finish, these products help create flawless looks with extra shine. With thin hair, I often run into problems of using too much product, but these two TIGI items were easy to use and to avoid over-using.

It’s so nice to have a haircare item that can multi-function! I know it’s sometimes silly to choose a product for the scent or any other secondary feature, but I find myself reaching for my TIGI sprays over others because I KNOW- without any doubt- the spray will not only disperse evenly, but will smell absolutely fabulous. The Haute Iron Spray and Finishing Spray feature Mandarin Patchouli Noir and Tobacco Flower Noir fragrances, respectively.

Use the Haute Iron Spray from the Sleek Mystique collection before using any heat tool. Although the product is noted to be designed for straight hair, I’ve had no problem using it when blow-drying or curling my hair. Designed to protect locks from heat, the ultra-fine spray coats hair to maintain moisture and protect color-treated hair.

TIGI Finishing Hairspray Avoid hair-don’ts from damage with irons and dryers and create smooth soft hair-dos with TIGI’s Haute Iron Spray. If that’s not enough to sell you yet, AND you style your hair daily, this product will also provide much needed strength and prevent overworked and weak hair.

After you’ve achieved your desired look, top it off with the Finishing Hairspray from TIGI’s Catwalk Session Series. Designed to give you brushable, flexible, long-lasting hold, this product is ideal for updos, curls, and creating volume.

The fine mist of the spray coats several layers of hair for a firm hold. The series of hairsprays are specially designed to go through layers of hair to create a bond that will hold every part of your style- not just the top. The Finishing Spray has a medium to high hold, depending on the thickness and texture of your hair.

Natural Beauty Tips: Preventing Hair Loss

hair-brush-hair-lossIf you’re starting to notice more hair stuck in your hairbrush or extra strands collecting in your shower drain, you could be experiencing the beginning stages of hair loss. Hair loss is something that will affect everyone to some degree as they age. Even young people aren’t immune to this problem. Hair loss can start at any age and can be exacerbated by hormonal fluctuations, medications, and illness. Thankfully, there are a few things you can do to help keep hair loss at bay.

If you’re having nightmares about hair transplant surgery, don’t worry. You can find plenty of natural ways to prevent hair loss. Scalp massage is a great way to help hold onto the hair you have. A very gentle massage of your scalp twice a day can help boost circulation near the hair follicles, which helps the follicles keep a firm grip on your hair.

Perhaps one of the best natural ways to prevent hair loss is to take vitamins. If you don’t currently take a multivitamin, starting to take one daily could be enough to turn your hair loss problem around. Most people don’t have a very well-rounded diet and this can contribute to hair loss. A deficiency in biotin can lead to hair loss, so you could also try a B-complex supplement that contains biotin. It might take a few weeks before you notice an improvement, but vitamins have the added benefit of helping you stay healthy.

Biotin is so helpful to hair growth that it has worked its way into a number of topical hair products as well. You can pick up a shampoo or conditioner that contains biotin or other natural hair growth ingredients. Many people report success using these products on a regular basis.

Sometimes hair loss can be caused by physical distress to the hair follicle or strand, so it pays to be gentle with your locks. Do not brush your hair too much. Brush it just enough to make it look nice and then put the brush away! Also, be sure you are using a brush with coated bristles to minimize tearing. The bristles that have balls attached to the tips tend to be gentler than other types. If you wear your hair in a ponytail, opt for ponytail holders that are made of soft materials and avoid using the type with metal clasps at all costs.

Chemicals can also contribute to hair loss. A great natural way to prevent hair loss is to reassess your styling routine and scrutinize the ingredient list of the products you use regularly. If you color your hair, ask your stylist about using natural dyes. Try to avoid chemical treatments like perms and straightening. Keep the heat as low as possible on styling devices like flat irons, blow dryers, and curling irons. You should also try to avoid using hair products that contain sodium lauryl sulfate, an ingredient that is suspected to cause hair loss.

ChapStick® Raspberry Crème Moisturizer & ChapStick Sport Ready Review

Raspberry Creme ChapStick ReviewIt’s no secret that I’m a sucker for raspberry flavors. I saw that ChapStick® now offers its popular lip moisturizer in a wonderful raspberry crème flavor, and I couldn’t wait to try it. I happily accepted the offer of a free ChapStick Raspberry Crème Moisturizer for the purpose of this review. Find out what I really think about this product below!

I have to say, first and foremost, that I am somewhat distressed when I can’t find my new ChapStick in my purse or pocket. I’ve suffered through a few different occasions where I misplaced my Raspberry Crème lip balm for days at a time, finally finding it in a coat pocket or other unexpected location. In recent days I’ve enjoyed much better luck with keeping it close at hand. The flavor is THAT good that I don’t want to miss a day without this lip product. I will most certainly be buying more ChapStick Raspberry Crème when this one runs out in the coming weeks or months.

Boasting Aloe and Vitamin E among its ingredients, ChapStick Raspberry Crème Moisturizer glides smoothly and comfortably onto the lips, adding a dose of SPF 15 sunscreen protection. It is comfortable to wear and seems to last a rather long time once applied. The fragrance and flavor are tantalizing – I only wish I had a chocolate flavored lip balm to apply at the same time!

I also had the pleasure of trying ChapStick® Sport Ready lip balm, which is aimed at protecting the lips of those who are active and athletic. Especially great for skiers and other adventure-seekers, ChapStick Sport Ready features a cool clip top for easy access anywhere you go. This lip product also works hard to protect your lips from the elements, giving a stronger dose of SPF 30 sun block and a water-resistant formula, effective for up to 80 minutes, that works great by the beach or at the pool.

The Raspberry Crème Lip Moisturizer retails for .99 to $1.99 and Sport Ready sells for $2.59 to $2.99 at your favorite drugstores, grocery stores, and mass market retailers. Learn more about ChapStick products at
