What to Do if You Won’t See Your Mom for Mother’s Day

Sometimes various factors get in the way of seeing your family for the holidays. Whether it’s your spouse’s parents’ turn to host the holidays or if you’re traveling and won’t be able to make a visit, it’s always a good idea to have a backup plan for what to do if you can’t or won’t see your mom for Mother’s Day.

You can still find special ways to show you care even if you won’t be there in person to celebrate. Consider these tips to help you figure out what to do if you won’t see your mom for Mother’s Day.

•    Send a Mother’s Day card.
•    Send Mother’s Day flowers.
•    Call your mom on Mom’s Day.
•    Send a Mother’s Day present in the mail.
•    Send some recent photos in the mail.
•    Make a video for your mom and send it to her.
•    Try to get one of your siblings to visit so your mom has someone there.
•    Plan an alternate visit to celebrate another time.
•    Meet for a meal before or after Mother’s Day.
•    Make sure you are there for your mom next year!

These are just a few examples of things you can do when you won’t see your mom on Mother’s Day. Consider trying one of more of these or come up with your own idea for what to do for your mom when you won’t see her on her special day.

While the best case scenario is always to see your mom on Mother’s Day, you may not be able to make it happen every time. If you can’t or won’t see your mom for Mother’s Day, try to make Mom’s Day special despite your absence. Even if things don’t go as well as you would like, you can always make it up to your mom by planning a special Mother’s Day next year.

How to Share Mother’s Day Fairly between Your Mom and Your Mother-in-Law

Sometimes life becomes a little more complex when you get married. You’ve got to combine stuff, combine finances (debt and wages) if you choose to do so, and combine likes and interests if you can manage it. Getting married also involves splitting things – like the last piece of chocolate cake, vacation time if you both like different types of destinations, and of course, holidays. Mother’s Day is often one such holiday that is a challenge to split fairly and evenly between your mom and mother-in-law, but it can be done.

Consider these tips on how to share Mother’s Day fairly between your own mom and your mother-in-law, no matter where you live.

Splitting Mother’s Day with Mom and Mother-in-Law on the Same Day
If you and your spouse live in close proximity to both your mothers, it may be possible to celebrate Mother’s Day with both moms separately—perhaps lunch with one and dinner with the other. You might also consider getting both families and your own together for a Mother’s Day lunch or dinner at a restaurant if your families all get along. It may be a nice way to celebrate with everyone together in one place.

If you do Mother’s Day lunch with your mom and dinner with your spouse’s mom this year, consider switching it up to do the reverse next year. While it’s a truly great thing to be able to do both—the only issue with visiting both moms on Mother’s Day is that they might come to expect this plan every year. Speak with your partner and decide if you are up for that possibility, or wait and cross that bridge when you get to it.

Sharing Mother’s Day Weekend with Both Moms on Separate Days
Sometimes driving to two different locations and then home again on the same day can be a bit overwhelming. Splitting up Mother’s Day across the Saturday of that weekend and the next day, Sunday, which actually is Mother’s Day, can be a bit easier on you. Talk with your partner and decide who you’ll see for Mother’s Day on Sunday this year and plan to visit the other mom on the Saturday before Mom’s Day. Then next year, do the reverse.

The only real downside with this Mother’s Day sharing plan is that that almost the entire weekend is planned out for you. You may not mind since you both get to see your mom on or around Mother’s Day. If you do mind, consider some other ideas for how to share Mom’s Day with your mother and mother-in-law both.

Hosting a Mother’s Day Brunch or Picnic for a Larger Group
Sometimes it gets tricky to plan holidays, especially Mother’s Day, when you and your spouse both have siblings, and even more so when they have spouses. Sometimes planning a big gathering for both moms is a nice option, whether at your house or at a restaurant.

You can plan a nice picnic lunch, buffet brunch, or even a barbeque for your mom and mom-in-law. You and your siblings or your spouse’s siblings can take turns doing this if your families are close, or you can volunteer to host it all the time. You also may wish to do individual Mother’s Day visits some years to your mom’s house or your spouse’s mom’s house, and then other years host the Mother’s Day brunch or picnic.

Taking Turns with Mother’s Day by Alternating Years
If your moms don’t live very close to you and a considerable drive is required, you might want to take turns visiting each mom for Mother’s Day. You can visit just one mother for Mother’s Day and then the next year, visit the other mother.

You and your spouse can decide which mom to visit the first year you are married and then plan to alternate each year after that. While you do this for Mother’s Day, you might want to consider a similar approach for other holidays, especially Father’s Day. Try to find the fair way to split up the holidays as best you can.

Celebrating Mother’s Day with Mom, Stepmom, and Mother-in-Law
If you would like to include your stepmom in your Mother’s Day plans, in addition to your mom and your mother-in-law, your holiday planning becomes infinitely more difficult. At this point it might be wise to choose a combination of the options mentioned on this page. If everyone gets along, which may be rare, consider getting everyone together for the brunch or picnic, or lunch or dinner at a restaurant.

If your families don’t all get along, visiting one at a time will be the best approach. Work with your spouse to decide if you will be visiting on the same day, same weekend, or different surrounding weekends. You can also alternate years, but you might do well to mix it up where someone gets a Saturday and another mom gets Mother’s Day, and the third gets a special day on a surrounding weekend.

Celebrating Mother’s Day with Your Family Only and Visiting the Moms another Time
Sometimes all this planning just gets too complicated. You do all the thinking and planning and organizing and you barely have any energy left at all to enjoy time with your family. If you are already a parent, taking some special time for yourself and your immediate family is important.

Consider doing your own Mother’s Day festivities on Mother’s Day and make other arrangements to visit with your mom and mother-in-law another time, whether during the same weekend or on surrounding weekends. If you choose not to visit either of your moms on Mother’s Day, don’t forget to send cards or flowers!

Mother’s Day Messages: Greetings, Letters, and Comments for Mom, Stepmom, Mother-in-Law, and Grandmother

Mother’s Day is a special time to remind your mom, stepmother, mother-in-law, or grandmother how much you care. You can do this with Mother’s Day messages, greeting cards, letters, e-mails, and comments in person. While we probably spend time with these special women all throughout the year, Mother’s Day is a great time to recognize them and show how much we appreciate them.

No matter if you are spending Mother’s Day with your mom or not, you can still show your love with a simple, heartfelt Mother’s Day message, card, letter, or other greeting. If you are married, don’t forget to prepare a little Mother’s Day greeting for your mother-in-law as well. You can also do this for your boyfriend’s or girlfriend’s mom – she’s sure to appreciate it. If you don’t have time to pick out a gift, your mother figures may still appreciate a small gesture like a gift card for Mother’s Day.

Consider these tips for writing your own Mother’s Day messages, greetings, letters, and comments for mom, stepmom, and mom-in-law.

Send happy wishes and messages to mom, stepmom, mother-in-law, and grandmom on Mother's Day.A Special Mother’s Day Wish for Mom
Send your mom or other maternal figure a special Mother’s Day wish in May. Tell your mom, stepmom, mother-in-law, or grandmom what you wish for her on that special day. You can send best wishes for a day full of fun and love, happy memories, or peace and relaxation.

If you aren’t spending Mother’s Day together with your special maternal lady, consider sending a wish that you could spend some time together soon. You can wish for happiness, success, good health, love, fun, and so much more. Think about everything that matters to your mom, and let her know that you wish for all of that and more.

Here are some Mother’s Day phrases and comments you can include in your greeting for your mom:
–    Wishing you all the best this day and always, Mom!
–    There’s nothing like a mother’s love to give us all the strength we need to succeed. Thanks for everything, Mom.
–    Sending you happy wishes for lots of love and relaxation.
–    Mom, I can’t begin to thank you for always being there and for all you’ve done. With Love, [name]
–    Happy Mother’s Day to the best mom in the world!

Heartfelt Mother’s Day Sentiments for Stepmom
Sharing heartfelt thoughts and sentiments with your stepmom on Mother’s Day can be a delicate yet much appreciated situation. You surely don’t want you stepmom to feel left out if you are her only (step)child, but you also don’t want to hurt your mom’s feelings or cause any undue anguish on Mother’s Day if your parents’ divorce is still too fresh or simply wasn’t amicable. You can always send a Mother’s Day greeting card through the mail if this helps to ease the tension and keep your gesture more private. Of course, you should only do something if it is within your comforts.

If you decide to share some loving thoughts with your stepmom on Mother’s Day, you can easily find a nice Mom’s Day greeting card that isn’t overly gushing on the words “Mom” and “Mother.” In fact, some greeting card lines even offer cards for stepmother and mother-in-law, so you should be able to find an appropriate greeting for your stepmom without feeling like you are betraying your own mom.

Consider some of these ideas for stepmom messages and sentiments on Mother’s Day:
–    I want you to know you are a very special part of my life. Thank you for your love and support.
–    Thinking of you on Mother’s Day and wishing you lots of love.
–    Happy Mother’s Day to a very special woman in my life. With love and appreciation, [name]

Thoughtful Mother’s Day Greeting for Mother-in-Law and Grandmother…

Tips for a Happy Earth Day

Earth Day is here! That happened fast this year – after that long winter, now is a great time to be outside and make our own yards and surrounding areas more beautiful. Earth Day is also a good time to reflect on our environment and do what we can to preserve it and keep it healthy for our kids, their kids, and generations to come. If you have a spare moment today, try to participate in one or more of the following tips for a happy Earth Day.

Earth Day comes just once a year, but we should be mindful of the environment and keeping our Earth healthy all year long. Consider these tips to be a bigger part of Earth Day today and every day.

– Carpool or walk to your destination (if safe) when possible. You can also take public transportation to reduce emissions into the environment.

– Plant a tree! This is something simple anyone can do! If you live in an apartment or just don’t have the yard space, consider planting seeds of some kind instead – herbs, vegetables, or flowers are a great pick!

– Try a new brand of organic or natural beauty products. You can help the environment AND protect yourself and your skin from harmful chemicals.

– Reduce your electricity consumption. Consider avoiding use of the air conditioner or the heater, depending on the weather today.

– Find out what your local municipality accepts for recycling. Make sure you are doing all that you can do to avoid filling up our world’s landfills. Some towns allow you to recycle cardboard and even styrofoam!

– Make an effort to conserve water. Take a shorter shower today and make a conscious decision to use less water for things like washing your car, watering your lawn, etc. all throughout the year.

These are just a few examples of ways you can recognize and be a part of Earth Day today and all year long. Have a Happy Earth Day!

Yoga for the Phases of a Woman’s Life

Yoga, currently practiced by 15-million Americans, has also become a multi-billion dollar business. At its roots, yoga is a tool to help the body become more cleansed and balanced by physical asana, or poses, as well as techniques for breathing and meditation, mental focus, clarity and well being. With all the choices out there in yoga – celebrity teachers, expensive yoga mats, and clothes, many types of yoga and approaches to yoga, where does a novice turn to find out more about yoga in a way that is helpful for their own needs?

A gem of a teacher may be found as close as your nearest YMCA, gym, or place of work. With yoga being offered in so many environments, the quality of the teacher is what counts most. An experienced teacher can give you guidelines for your stage of life and unique conditions. Yoga can be used for children, pregnancy, for weight loss, pain and anxiety relief, and to ease a woman through menopause. A larger class is not always where you learn the most, or get the most attention, so trust your intuition when you check out a class. Feel free to ask the teacher questions about their training and background. Private sessions are an option, too, if you have it in your budget; a sure way to get a personalized practice that is right for you.

Many women are looking for ways to stay healthy and maintain the proper weight or lose weight. Yoga, if practiced three times a week, has been proven to help in weight loss. Along with the physical aspect of overeating, yoga can also help the mind and emotions come into balance, a great help for emotional eaters. Women with eating disorders may benefit from gentler forms of yoga, especially in learning breathing techniques that help them deal with the emotional issues attached to their condition.

Many young women are enjoying the work out approach of popular yoga forms like Vinyasa (flow) and Ashtanga (originally developed in India for young boys!), as are middle aged women wishing to maintain youthful energy. The gentler forms of yoga, such as hatha or restorative, are just as good a way to get the body stretched and toned and feeling great. Iyengar is a form of yoga that emphasizes proper alignment, which can prevent injuries or help deal with current ones. Kundalini Yoga emphasizes the breath and inner work, feeling the relationship of your energies from within.

When a woman becomes pregnant, she can look for prenatal yoga classes. These classes offer modifications for poses, as well as mental practices and attitudes that can help the woman through the pregnancy and birthing process. Laying on the belly, deep twists and intense rapid breath are not recommended during this time. Gentle soothing stretches feel good for the mom-to-be and for the baby swimming in the belly. Once baby is born, there are mommy and me classes and children can be introduced to yoga at an early age. Women’s joints loosen in preparation for birthing so this is important to realize. Women in preganancy often feel better resting on their side instead of their back.

As a woman ages her yoga practice may have progressed from the earlier stages of her life so that she has a good foundation to build on. Yet she may find changes in her body affect her practice. Yoga can help the symptoms of menopause and it is a perfectly good time to start yoga – it is never too late! If you are in good physical condition, easing into yoga practice may be a breeze. If you have not exercised much, look for a beginner’s class. (Yoga can even be done in a chair if necessary).

Don’t be intimidated by yoga as a young person’s exercise. It can be practiced at any age, providing you take the time to learn. There are also books and DVDS available. The Internet is a great tool for researching anything, including yoga. In menopause, women with hot flashes may notice the warming poses affecting them – backbends and inversions – but it is not a reason to avoid them altogether. Do them for shorter periods of time if you like. The breathing practices can ease the anxiety that sometimes accompanies menopause (or any other stage of life for that matter).

Changes may occur that you have to work and live with. In my practice, my shoulders shifted almost overnight, losing their flexibility in deep extensions that I had previously found easy. As at any phase of life, things like frozen shoulders are not a reason to stop practicing. Listening to the messages of your body, especially pain when pushing, is all that is required – and putting your ego out the door. Yoga is not meant to be competetive.

Yoga boosts the immune system and strengthens the nerves, making it a helpful antidote to stress. The increased circulation, oxygenation, and reversing the effects of gravity, are all bonuses for a woman’s inner beauty, allowing her to radiate on the outside what yoga is doing for her on the inside – through any stage of life.

Tips to Awaken Your Senses and Revitalize Your Mood

Sometimes we just sort of fall into a dull place in life. We could really use something fresh and fun to invigorate us, awaken our senses, and revitalize our moods. If you feel like you just need something new and exciting to jumpstart your mood, you will be happy to find this list of fresh ways to revamp your mood with little or no change in your daily routine.

Work can often put us in a bad mood. And when it isn’t work, it may be errands and having too many things to do, money issues, not having enough time to ourselves, or countless other things draining on us. Sometimes all we need to do to get back into the groove of life is to take a few moments to ourselves and refresh and awaken our senses and flip the switch to put ourselves in a better mood.

If you just need something simple to put your life back on track, or possibly to derail the current direction and change over to a new outlook, consider these tips to rejuvenate your mood.

•    Take a hot bath with luxurious bath salts, bubbles, or other bath goodies.

•    Try an emotibomb by LUSH Cosmetics. It adds lovely fragrance to your shower experience.

•    Go for a ride in a convertible with all the windows down on the next nice day.

•    Join a class or do your own yoga or Pilates at home.

•    Take the time to meditate on a daily basis.

•     Go for a jog outside…. Better yet if you can find safe trails to roam.

•    Go swimming, even if the water is cold. Jump right in.

•    Plan a tropical vacation, either by plane or on a cruise.

•    Treat yourself to new and fragrant bath and body products like lotions, body sprays, and other goodies.

•    Spend time outside gardening, doing yard work, or working out. Fresh air can do wonders for your mood and your body.

•    Indulge in one delicious and sinful goodie, like triple chocolate cake or a large dish of ice cream.

•    Watch a movie that makes you feel good. Or, if you feel like you need to cry but don’t want to cry for your own reasons, watch a sad movie that will let you get that release of tears.

•    Call an old friend out of the clear blue sky and catch up.

•    Spend time with a family member, friend, or pet. Remember how much you are loved.

•    Stop and smell the roses – literally. If you don’t have any flowers in your yard, consider treating yourself to a new potted plant or bouquet to enjoy for a spell.

•    Go somewhere peaceful and just relax. A stream, waterfall, or the ocean can be some great places to relax and reflect. You might also consider a hike to the top of a mountain or another pretty location.

No matter how you deal with your stress and mood swings, just remember that you can always try to reverse the negative feelings. In addition to the ideas listed above, consider things in life that make you happy and ideas of what you like to do for hobbies. Be sure to include these kinds of activities to help you eliminate stress.

Diva6 ShaveMate Razor with built-in shaving cream - product reviewI think we all can agree when I say that there are a few items on a woman’s list that must be bought, at minimum, a couple times a month. That’s because we need them to feel better about ourselves. It’s called maintaining our femininity. We use these products religiously (whether we’d like to or not), so why settle for what’s offered on the shelves at the store, unless of course they offer it at your local supermarket. Otherwise, it’s nice to splurge a little on “the good stuff” if it’ll make you feel better.

I may have confused some of you with where I’m headed with this post. Don’t worry, I’m getting there.
Some of the necessities I am referring to are: panty liners (gotta have those), razors (some of us need to shave way too often) and workout clothing (and I’m talking comfortable attire so we feel better while we’re sweating our behinds off).

Did I get your attention? Great, because some of the products I’ll be talking to you about may come as a surprise. Maybe you wouldn’t think that shopping for these things could come from any place other than at your local grocery store. They do (or at least two out of the three products do) and I’m pretty sure you’re going to like what you see. I did. From the moment I received the products in the mail I have been thinking of ways to share the products with others (by ways of gift ideas, etc.).

Titan6 men's razor with built-in shaving cream - product reviewThe first product I’m going to share with you is available anywhere hygiene products are found.  I’m talking about razors, but not just any razor. I’m talking about the new Shave Mate razors. They are amazing (by all accounts – mine of course) and I don’t think I could ever try another. I’ll tell you why.

Diva6 ShaveMate Razor with built-in shaving cream - product reviewShaveMate came out with a new razor (Diva6 for women and Titan6 for men) that has the shaving cream dispenser in the razor’s end. This is a complete, all-in-one combo razor worth getting excited about. It comes with six flexible blades for an extremely close shave. Now, normally I don’t make such a big stink about shaving. Usually, I don’t tell anyone when I shave unless I’m in a conversation with friends about the product they use, but that’s normally followed by: I have to shave everyday because my razor doesn’t perform the way it should. If this sounds like you, consider looking into the purchase of a three-pack of Diva6 shavers for yourself (and the Titan6 for the husband, boyfriend, or other).  It’s definitely the closest shave I’ve ever had, and I’ve been shaving for 20 years or so.

Pantzies fashionable panty liners product reviewNext we have Pantzies… sound interesting? They are. I’m going to go as far as saying this product can fit in as a perfect “novelty” type, yet very practical, item. It makes a particular product that normally has a stigma for being serious… kind of fun to share and talk about. Yes, I am talking about panty liners, but the cutest ones I’ve ever seen.

I have to say, when I first received product samples for review, I was thrilled (in a personal sort of way). I just thought they were the cutest and wanted to wear them, just because I could. Surprisingly, they are both cute and very comfortable, and I say this with the utmost confidence. I mean, trust me because it’s not every day that I freely talk about something as personal as panty liners. Just saying the word makes me feel like I’m talking about something I shouldn’t…

Please consider looking at this product in a bit more detail; I think you’ll agree that Pantzies would be a great novelty item for a friend or daughter (expecting mom, a young girl learning about panty liners, a bachelorette, etc.). Also, on a personal level, these are really great items to have in your purse just in case you need them at a moment’s notice. I do recommend them.

And last, but definitely not least, we have Lolly 38. Talk about outrageously comfortable attire for curvy women.  The fabrics are simply beautiful and wearable – almost too perfect.

I think my husband has had to request that I wear something different. Not because he didn’t like what I was wearing, but because I simply could not get myself to do it otherwise. I felt so comfortable. So pretty and I just didn’t want that feeling to end. I really just didn’t want to change. At this point I wish I had an entire closet full of Lolly 38; that way, I could change, but I’d feel that same comfort no matter what.

Lolly38 yoga wear product review

It truly is a different feeling compared to what I’m used to.

You’re going to enjoy this part of my review. The clothing at Lolly 38’s Taffy wear; the yoga and active wear I was provided (didn’t cost any more than other good quality garments you’d buy at the mall). The quality of Lolly 38, to me, exceeds all the other brands I’ve ever worn before. I can’t even describe the difference… except. Okay, you know the bed sheets that you can’t get yourself to get out of. The softest (not silk), most stretchy (yet strong) fibered sheets that are a tie between cotton and spandex… yeah, that material. Well, it may not be that exactly, but you get what I mean right? It’s practically candy for your body. Definitely a must have in anyone’s active wear collection. But before you go drooling at Taffy, make sure you look at the underwear, sweats, and T-shirt sections. I know that my next purchase will be undies; if they feel anything like the Taffy line, I’ll be in heaven for life.

I hope that you will consider visiting any of the sites listed above. Each and every one of the products made my life easier. From feeling so clean and soft to feeling positively comfortable in what I’m wearing; you will definitely find that these products are worth the rave. I am pretty convinced that once you try any one of the above products, you’ll be hooked. Thank you for taking the time to read. I hope that you can find use in one, or all, of the products listed above.

Top 10 Ways to Go Green for Earth Day or Any Day

Be a friend to the environment and do your part to reduce waste and make the world a better place to live. You can go green in so many ways, from buying certified green and organic products to driving less. With a little creativity and a lot of dedication, you can make a difference by going green for Earth Day or any day.

Green living can be as easy or as complex as you like – from something as simple as buying paper plates instead of Styrofoam to something as involved (read: expensive) as enlisting the help of professionals to get your appliances running smoothly, increasing efficiency. Consider your current lifestyle to help you decide which degree of green living you’d like to follow.

Consider these suggestions for how to go green for Earth Day or any day.

1.    Buy products that are produced in a green way, and especially those that are easily biodegradable.
Consider products like Earth Essentials Biodegradable Sugar Cane Bowls and Plates (available at CVS), which are made from sustainable sugar cane byproduct. These bowls and plates offer a super fast biodegrading time along with an especially affordable price – only $2.50 per package of 20. Best yet, they are still sturdy and able to hold hot and cold foods and liquids.

2.    Buy only cosmetics and beauty products that are not tested on animals.
Go green even more by purchasing organic and natural products that don’t contain toxins.

3.    Buy food and other items in bulk to reduce packaging, waste, and cost. “Bulk shopping makes it easy for consumers to go green in an affordable fashion,” said Bulk is Green Council member Clint Landis of Frontier Natural Products Co-Op. “It’s smart, sustainable shopping that uses minimal packaging and allows the customer to reduce waste by purchasing as little or as much as they need.”

4.    Plant a tree. You can help to bring back a tiny fraction of the trees that are cut down each year by planting a baby tree.

5.    Conserve electricity by turning off lights and unplugging things you aren’t using. Many people also help to save the environment by turning to solar power.

6.    Recycle as much as you possibly can, both at home and in the office. Some places even allow you to recycle Styrofoam, scrap metal, cardboard, and more.

7.    Walk rather than drive whenever you have the chance. In addition to helping you go green, this is good for your body, too, giving you exercise and fresh air.

8.    Carpool when you can, and lump several errands together into the same trips.
The more you get done on one trip, the less driving you have to do for separate errands. Spend less time in the car!

9.    Start composting instead of throwing away food wastes. You can make your own nutrient rich soil for your garden while also helping to reduce what goes into the landfills.

10.    Use reusable shopping bags. Instead of getting plastic or paper at the grocery store or other stores, do your part to help the environment for not just Earth Day but all the time.

Keep these 10 living green tips in mind to help you go green for Earth Day and every day. Every person can make a difference by doing things to help and save the environment. From reducing resource consumption to recycling and reusing things when possible, we can all make out own differences in the environment. Going green is more than just a trend – it is a way of life.

How to Celebrate Your First Mother’s Day

Spend time with your little one for Mother's Day.

If this is your very first Mother’s Day as a new mom, congratulations! What an exciting time this is for you and your family. Whether you’ve waited a long time for your first Mother’s Day or if it completely snuck up on you, be sure to take some special time to celebrate and rejoice in the new bundle of joy you’ve welcomed into your home.

If you are planning your first Mother’s Day celebration, think about how you’ve imagined it would be, or how you want to remember it. Decide who you will include in this very special Mother’s Day holiday. Will you spend Mom’s Day with just your husband and new baby, or will you include your own mother or possibly your mother-in-law in the day’s festivities?

Consider these ideas for a first Mother’s Day to help you plan a special holiday with your loved ones.

The Romantic 1st Mother’s Day
If you will be spending your first Mother’s Day with your husband or boyfriend and new baby, a romantic first Mom’s Day is not fully out of the question. You can do the tried-and-true dinner and a movie date for Mother’s Day or go for a more relaxed yet equally romantic candlelit dinner in the comfort of your home. Your new baby can still be by your side and very much a part of your special day.

It is important to celebrate the romance you share with your partner on Mother’s Day. The whole reason you are celebrating your first Mother’s Day stems from the love you share with your spouse or sweetheart. Take special time together with the baby, but don’t forget to spend a few precious moments with your husband, too.

The Relaxing 1st Mother’s Day
If you are done with the hustle and bustle and just want to relax for your first Mother’s Day, your husband will probably be happy to hear it! You can do the easy and relaxing thing for Mom’s Day this year since you have a new baby to tend to, most likely keeping you running at full pace. For a relaxing first Mother’s Day, consider the dinner and a movie date at home.

Agree on your favorite local place and place a takeout order. Enjoy your meal and watch a movie together on the couch – either one you’ve rented or something OnDemand, or even a televised movie – preferably something you both haven’t seen before, or perhaps one of your all-time favorites. After your food has a chance to settle, enjoy a little something sweet. Definitely do not skip dessert on your very first Mother’s Day!

The Social 1st Mother’s Day
Maybe your little one is a complete angel and makes your job as new mom easy. Maybe you have a lot of help so you aren’t as exhausted as you could be. Or, maybe you just got back from vacation so your batteries are already recharged. Whatever the case, if you are up for a social, on-the-go first Mother’s Day, be sure to gather your favorite moms (your own mom, stepmom, mother-in-law, or friends and family members with their own kids) and plan a special Mother’s Day bash.

For the social first Mother’s Day, consider doing a picnic or barbeque (weather permitting), a special dinner at a restaurant, or a nice casual gathering at someone’s home. You can all bring photos of your kids and the first-time moms can all socialize their babies with beloved friends and family. It’s a win-win for everyone!

No matter how you decide to celebrate your first Mother’s Day, it is sure to be memorable. Be sure to soak it all up and try not to let any of the small things ruin your special day. Take a few pictures, enjoy a few sweets, and don’t forget to say “I love you” to those special people in your life. Enjoy!

Celebrate Earth Day with Fun Activities and Crafts

AsterNovi-belgii-flower-1mbDepending on the ages of your children, you can find a number of really cool and fun Earth Day ideas to do with your kids. From preschool Earth Day crafts for your youngest child to more sophisticated Earth Day crafts and activities, you can find a wealth of fun and interesting things to do with your family for Earth Day. Whether you have a teenager or a preschooler or another age group entirely, put your creativity to work and enjoy interesting Earth Day ideas with your loved ones.

A few favorite Earth Day ideas for children and parents include planting a tree, planting and learning about seeds, learning about composing, and creating birdfeeders for use around your own home. To help teach your kiddos about Earth Day, consider these Earth Day ideas and activities.

Earth Day Crafts for Preschool Kids through Teens
Earth Day activities for kids can range from Earth-friendly crafts to singing songs, to cleaning up the neighborhood, to planting a tree, making a birdfeeder, or any other number of Earth Day ideas. Depending on the age of your kids, you can surely find something fun and exciting to do for Earth Day.

A few preschool Earth Day crafts may include coloring pictures of trees and nature, exploring the great outdoors, and learning about different kinds of trees, flowers, plants, and leaves. You can encourage your preschool aged child to recycle and to make less trash, but it may be more effective to focus on the fun aspects of Earth Day.

Making a bird feeder with pine cones, peanut butter or suet, and birdseed can be a fun activity for the whole family to enjoy, and the birds will love it! You can also encourage your kids to make trash sculptures out of things you would otherwise recycle or throw away. In addition to bird feeders, it can be fun to plant seeds for a little garden or to learn about composing, rain barrels, and other eco-friendly gardening activities.

If Earth Day falls on a weekend or at a time when you can spend the entire day with your family or at least your kids, try to find an Earth Day festival in your local area or at least within driving distance. An Earth Day festival can be fun for your little ones as well as your teenagers, so try to visit an Earth Day festival at least once for your family’s enjoyment. Earth Day festivals usually have countless activities and learning stations that are great for kids (and adults!) of any age.

Earth Day Songs and Music
A great way to educate your kids about Earth Day and how to save the planet is to introduce your children to themed songs and music selections. Even popular musicians like Jack Johnson get into the groove with saving the Earth – “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” is a popular, catchy, and memorable tune to play around Earth Day.

You can search for popular Earth Day songs and music on YouTube.com. You’ll be sure to find everything from rock stars doing their part to save the environment to educational ditties that are perfect for your school-aged children or even Earth Day lesson plans. If you are feeling especially ambitious, consider making your kids an Earth Day themed CD or iTunes playlist.

Earth Day Party Ideas
If one of your family members has a birthday falling on or around Earth Day, you can have a lot of fun preparing and planning with an eco-friendly perspective. You can have a garden party theme featuring birdhouses and watering cans for centerpieces or a simple outdoor party with natural décor of your own landscape.

To keep your Earth Day party green, turn to earth-friendly paper plates, bowls, and other party goods, like CVS Pharmacy’s Earth Essentials Biodegradable Sugar Cane Bowls and Plates. These items are of top quality and they are quite lovely for paper plates and bowls. Can you believe they biodegrade in only one to three months’ time? I had the pleasure of testing these out with messy chocolate cake and ice cream – not one drop leaked through the plates or bowls. I highly recommend these eco-friendly party goods to keep your celebration as green as can be.

In addition to birthday parties, you can also plan your own Earth Day party to celebrate the environment and the Earth itself. Ask each of your guests to share a favorite tip to help save the environment. When it’s time to go, present each guest of your Earth Day party with a party bag that includes a packet or two of seeds and even a baby tree if you like.
