Fuzzy Bunny Slippers Review

Fuzzy bunny slippersFuzzy bunny slippers have been a guilty pleasure of mine since I was about 12 or 13. For some reason I just thought they were cuter and comfier than other slippers, no matter what the animal or theme. Luckily a few brands still make bunny slippers for adults, so I happily purchased a pair of cushy, fuzzy white bunny slippers for myself just about two weeks ago. They arrived promptly in my mailbox and I’ve been wearing them ever since.

I ordered my white ladies fuzzy bunny slippers from Amazon and I’m very pleased with my purchase. These are quite possibly the most comfortable slippers I’ve ever owned, and there’s just something endearing about a pair of white bunny rabbit slippers. Each slipper has a white bunny face with two black eyes, pink nose, pink mouth, chubby cheeks, whiskers, and two ears that can stick up or flop over.

The slippers are large and well-cushioned. I am pretty sure my border collie thinks they are her own personal toys while I’m sleeping. She likes to get them and bring them to me in the morning – I’m not sure if she’s saying, “Hey, time to get up!” or “here, I thought you’d like this.”

The bottoms of each bunny slipper have little white nonslip dots to help give you traction while walking around your home, particularly on slippery floors. I have absolutely no complaints about these slippers and I am sure I will buy them again whenever this pair bites the dust.

If you want your own comfortable and adorable white bunny slippers, I recommend these same ones I bought, available at Amazon.com for $16.99 by SG Footewear. They are available in sizes 5-6, 7-8, and 9-10.

Boring Band-aids No More! Cynthia Rowley Adds Style and Shine for Your Little Boo-Boos

Cynthia Rowley band-aids reviewGone are the days of boring nude-colored band-aids used to conceal and help heal a cut or other wound. You may have seen little kids’ bandages with cartoon characters or other fun designs, but choices for adults have been lacking. Beyond the clear band-aids, there really haven’t been a lot of choices for women when it comes to dressing (up) a wound. Until now…

Johnson and Johnson has partnered with fashion designer Cynthia Rowley to bring us Band-aid bandages with fashionable designs showing off sequins, gold chains, bows, and more. The bandages also feature a signature blue band-aid with the designer’s name surrounded by zigzags.

Cynthia Rowley band-aids reviewThe stylish band-aids come in a chic black package with raised and glossy print. Each box of band-aids contains 10 small and 10 large bandages in a variety of patterns and styles. You’ll find everything from multi-colored sequin patterns to pink bows on a blue background, gold chains on a black background, gemstone patterns, and so much more.

These colorful band-aids will be great for a fashionable fix for your next boo-boo or a creative way to get your little fashionista’s mind off a small injury with a cute bandage to cover it.

The texture of the band-aids reminds me of some fun vinyl stickers I used to have when I was a teenager. The white trim gives a nice emphasis to the other colors in each distinctive band-aid style. Even if you aren’t familiar with Cynthia Rowley, you can certainly appreciate new bandage options with colors and patterns that sweetly replace traditional band-aid bandages.

These specialty bandages came out for pre-release with New York’s Fashion Night Out. The full release is planned for mass retail stores sometime around the holidays. This product will be available for $4.25 per box in various retail stores as a regular part of the product line. Nail Polish Colors and Trends Previewing for Spring 2012 (NY Fashion Week)

New York Fashion WeekFall is a fabulous time for new fashions, hot new nail polish colors, and new beauty treatments. Whether you’re in the mood for a salon-style manicure or pedicure boasting the new fall nail polish trends or if you prefer to do your own nails at home using the hottest nail polish colors for fall, or a cutting-edge color for spring, now is the perfect time to update your look. Consider these tips and trends on hot nail polish colors you can enjoy as a sneak peek in fall 2011 – the New York Fashion Week Spring / Summer 2012 nail color preview!

Backstage at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Spring / Summer 2012, the Dashing Diva hot nail polish colors and trends previewing for the coming spring season included a series of natural, buff nail polish colors and timeless, sexy reds. This is a good reminder that just about any time you can be safe with a red or nude mani or pedi. The colors and finishes are changing every season, of course. Dashing Diva’s Chelsea in the Buff and Season Tickets polish led the way for nude tones while The Red Carpet polish rounded out the bold and vibrant red scene.

OPI at New York Fashion Week included more of the same – subtle, neutral shades and a pop of red for an effective accent color for your nails. OPI’s MonSooner or Later (OPI Classics) is characterized by a bright orangey-red hue that works well at accessorizing an outfit. The pedicure choice for models at the fashion show was Samoan Sand (OPI Classics), which is a soft pink-toned nude. Other colors on display at New York Fashion Week – Spring/Summer 2012 include manicures of Stranger Tides (Pirates of the Caribbean) in a gray-green pastel shade and pedicures in a nude shade, Tickle My France-y (OPI Classics).

“The most important thing to remember about nails is to have fun with it. Make mistakes, test out new colors, and see what you think works best for you,” says Aija Vilemsonne, Creative Director of Pretty Woman USA.

Vilemsonne notes that some of the other hot nail polish colors include shades of blue and especially denim, metallic nail polish colors, and nude nail colors seem to be the way to go. Stay tuned for more details on fall 2011 nail polish colors and trends, as well as hot nail hues for the New Year.

Crazy Rumors Fresh Squeezed Lip Balm Review

Crazy Rumors Lip Balm ReviewLip balm, ChapStick, and other lip gloss products are some of my very favorites when it comes to beauty goodies. I was excited to learn about Crazy Rumors Fresh Squeezed Lip Balm and even happier to receive two flavors for the purpose of this review. Four citrus flavors make up this organic beauty collection, including Orange Juice, Pink Grapefruit, Lemonade, and Limeaid.

I really enjoyed the citrus flavors of the Crazy Rumors Fresh Squeezed lip balms. I got to try Pink Grapefruit and Limeaid, which are both very refreshing. These lip products have a slightly waxy taste as well, but it’s not a bad taste – just an organic kind of taste. Crazy Rumors lip balms are also cruelty free and vegan certified products. They contain natural and organic ingredients to soothe your lips and keep your kisses soft. Certified organic ingredients include Jojoba oil, extra virgin olive oil, Shea butter, and Vitamin E.

I would love to try the lemonade and orange juice flavors one day as well. I’m impressed with both the pink grapefruit and limeaid varieties – very yummy and nice to have on hand on a hot summer day or any time of year.

These lip balms by Crazy Rumors are available in a multi-pack of four yummy citrus flavors or you can get them separately as well. They are available at $3.49 a piece or $13.49 for the four piece juice collection. For more information, check out http://crazyrumors.com.

Guardian Technologies’ Germguardian 3-in-1 Tabletop Air Cleaning System Review (Model AC4010)

Germguardian Tabletop Air PurifierNot to make us sound sickly, but my husband has asthma and I get really bad seasonal allergies in the spring. Since we both have issues with breathing at some point or another, I was interested to see what I could do to improve the quality of the air inside our home. I received a Germguardian 3-in-1 Tabletop Air Cleaning System by Guardian Technologies® for the purpose of this review. Let me tell you, we’ve been using it for a week or so and I’m already impressed. This home air purifier showed me real results the very first time I used it.

We set up our 3-in-1 UV power true HEPA odor reduction air cleaning system in our bedroom on top of my husband’s tall dresser. It plugs into the outlet that turns on and off with a small lamp, so it is a nice setup that we can easily control without reaching for the device every time to turn it off or on. We’ve probably run our home air purifier for about 10 hours or more so far. Even the first day when we ran it for about two hours continuously, I immediately noticed that our bedroom had a different scent – very clean and pure! It smelled markedly different and I was thrilled for the immediate change.

The Germguardian 3-in-1 Tabletop Air Cleaning System is designed for small to medium-sized rooms and processes the air in a 200-square-foot room every hour, with a focus on removing odor as well as smoke particles, capturing allergens, pet dander, and dust, and killing airborne mold spores and other unwanted particles. The tabletop air purifier harnesses the power of UV light and filters with charcoal to kill germs. The cleaning efficiency is rated at capturing 99.97% of germs and particles in the air, passing through the filter at size .3 microns or greater.

At a glance the air purifying unit reminds me of a standard black alarm clock without all the buttons and dials. It is sleek and unobtrusive, so you can put it in just about any room in the house. Since we spend a considerable amount of time sleeping each day, keeping our unit in the bedroom made the most sense for us. The purifier produces white noise, which can aid those who find difficulty in getting to sleep. It is fairly quiet, but I don’t think we would watch television and run the purifier at the same time in our room.

Germguardian recommends replacing the filter every six months. I really enjoy the clean air and odor removal that this unit provides and I will absolutely be purchasing replacement filters so we can continue using this device to enhance our living areas.

The AC4010 Tabletop 3-in-1 True HEPA Air Cleaning System lists at $99.99 and retails for $69.99. For more information on Germguardian air cleaning products or Guardian Technologies, please check out www.germguardian.com and www.guardiantechnologies.com.

Wai Hope Organic Skincare Products Review – Facial Cleanser & Recharging Mist

Wai Hope Organic SkincareNatural and organic products seem to be the way to go these days. Anything that screams “Green!” generally lures in a certain crowd as well as a number of curious others. This is a good thing and may become even more prevalent in the months and years to come. Wai Hope is a relatively new line of organic skincare products that help to renew skin that has been damaged or weakened by acne, aging, the environment, medicines, and chemotherapy. The creator of Wai Hope is actually a cancer survivor who took matters into her own hands when she couldn’t find skincare products that met her needs.

Wai Hope Recharging MistVincene Parrinello, Wai Hope founder and cancer survivor, came up with a breakthrough element, Wai Restructured™ Water, containing rare Red Fijian Seaweed, Callophycus Serratus, to help combat the tendency of skin to be altered by UVA/UVB radiation, various medicines, diseases, and stress. With a special focus on providing skincare products for real, everyday people ranging from cancer patients to acne sufferers to sunbathers or even those with dry skin, the Wai Hope lineup includes organic lotions, moisturizers, peels, scrubs, and toners, among other skin-centric products. These products contain the patented water as well as truly organic ingredients that are suitable and designed for all skin types.

I received a couple of free products from Wai Hope for the purpose of my review. As if the story itself weren’t inspiring enough, I found the Seawater Recharging Mist to be a fast favorite, especially after a long car ride or a flight. The light spray and cool water molecules give a gentle and refreshing burst during your work day or whenever you need a quick pick-me-up. This mist contains too many wonderful, natural ingredients to mention, so I’ll have to refer you to the Wai Hope website here. The product does contain the feted Wai Restructured Water, making it a great item for yourself or a friend. My only concern is that the 4-oz bottle does not meet carry-on regulations, but if you tuck it inside your checked luggage, you’ll still very much appreciate the refreshing spritz of cool, healthy water when you touch down.

I also got to try out a sample size of the Pure HopeTM Organic Cleanser, which came across as an aromatherapy face wash more than anything. I genuinely enjoyed the fragrance of this face cleanser while using it in the shower. The spa-like scent is tantalizing to say the least. Ingredients include enriched BHW Complex “tea” broth, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, and my favorite, soothing Coconut Milk. This product is designed to soothe and hydrate skin while gently whisking away impurities. It’s also free from parabens, formaldehydes, perfumes, resins, sulfates, and petrochemicals/silicones, according to product information.

I greatly enjoyed sampling these rejuvenating and relaxing skincare products and I am happy to stand by the brand. You may not know this, but Wai Hope’s founder lost both her parents and her sister to cancer and even had her own bout with it. Instead of sitting back, she responded by creating a product lineup that can help people with troublesome skin. Her brand also gives back to charity, donating a portion of every sale to charity. By trying out Wai Hope products, we can assist with the same. For more information, please visit www.waihope.com.

Queen Helene Original Mint Julep Masque Review

Queen Helene Facial MasqueEver since I tried my first facial mud masque I’ve been hooked. I’ve tried many brands and I enjoy doing so, but one product I keep coming back to is Queen Helene Original Mint Julep Masque. That’s because, despite all the other products I’ve tried, this one gives me the results I long for in a skincare product. Do you know what I’m getting at? Sure you do. I want a product that can make excessive skin oils and blemishes disappear in about 48 hours or less. In most cases, I’ve found that with Queen Helene’s Mint Julep Masque.

I know most times people read product packaging and marketing materials with a boulder of salt, protecting themselves from disappointment. I can tell you, at least from my experiences and with my oily to combination skin, I have had nothing short of fantastic results with this green clay face mask. The product packaging states, “Helps dry up acne pimples, rinse away blackheads, & shrink enlarged pores.” I don’t get enlarged pores, but I can tell you, those annoying oily pimples that don’t usually go away on their own – well they are history when I use Queen Helene’s. I am always amazed at the amount of oil this skincare product sops off my face, even when I’m not feeling it ahead of time.

Sometime else I love about this product besides its incredible results is the very humble price for a large bottle of 8 ounces. I also find it especially easy to stay stocked up on it, since I can usually find it in my favorite pharmacy drugstores and grocery stores. You can also order it online at Amazon.com.

To use Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque, simply wash your face and apply the green clay masque while your face is still damp. Wait a few minutes until it hardens and dries to the touch. Your skin will feel tighter as the impurities are drawn out. Usually leaving it on for 15 minutes will do the trick. I often wash off the face masque in the shower, but you can use warm water and a washcloth equally well.

My favorite part of using this product is how my skin feels after I’ve rinsed it away. The soft, smooth, soothed skin feels great and oil-free thanks to a timeless skincare technique that works wonders at home as well as at the spa.

Product Review of PURE FIJI Coconut Milk Shampoo and Coconut Crème Conditioner

PURE FIJI Coconut Milk Shampoo and ConditionerCoconut Infusion!
I’ve neverss had someone ship me something all the way from Fiji before, so I’m sure you can imagine my excitement when I received a package that had indeed come to the States from one of my most dreamed-about tropical locations on the globe. I couldn’t be more excited about the luxurious coconut shampoo and conditioner duo, which I’ve been using for the past couple of weeks. The kind folks at PURE FIJI shipped me a complimentary full-size bottle of both PURE FIJI Coconut Milk Shampoo and PURE FIJI Coconut Crème Conditioner along with a Pineapple Candle for the purpose of my review. I’m more than thrilled to share my experience with you!

The more I try different products I start to realize how far things can vary in terms of quality, craftsmanship, and so on. The coconut shampoo and conditioner products from PURE FIJI do NOT disappoint. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that I am a complete coconut fanatic, but this product goes way above and beyond just liking it for the scent. I am very happy to report that PURE FIJI shampoo and conditioner hit the mark on every piece of criteria on which I would grade a product. Let’s go through it….

•    Scent – I absolutely adore how much the fragrance of PURE FIJI Coconut Milk Shampoo and Coconut Crème Conditioner (Coconut Infusion) products lingers after a shower is long done and hair is evenly dried. The lingering fragrance of the coconut infusion is tantalizing and makes me want to shower more than once a day – seriously.

•    Hair Softness – The quality of my hair following a shower using these coconut hair goodies is remarkably improved from your average grocery store or pharmacy shampoo and conditioner products. Even my husband had to comment on how soft my hair was after using them. And my hair is normally soft to begin with (never treated, never dyed), so that’s huge in my book.

•    Cleaning Ability – Again, nothing but great remarks here. After washing my hair with PURE FIJI products, it very easily rinses clean (more easily than normal) and leaves my hair feeling free from residue and other annoyances.

Summer 2011 Hot Nail Polish Colors and Trends

Pirates of the Caribbean Silver Shatter nail polishA fun summery manicure or pedicure can be the perfect treat for your appearance this summer. There’s still plenty of time to test and enjoy the hot nail polish colors for summer 2011. Consider the current nail polish trends or make up your own to get a pretty new look for your fingers and toes in the warm weather. Check out our summer 2011 hot nail polish colors and trends report to get the latest on the hottest shades for the season.

No matter if you plan to hit the beach or just spend the weekdays working and the weekends relaxing, check out these hottest shades for summer and beyond to give you a fun and flirty look this summer! Here is our preview for summer 2011 hot nail polish colors.

Summer 2011 Nail Polish Trend #1: Bright Candy Colors
Coral, pink, orange, blue, green, and other bright and cheery candy colors continue to be a huge hit for summer 2011 nails. Orange tones especially are holding their place as one of the hot nail colors for summer 2011 (not to mention last year’s craze). Summer manicure and pedicures look fantastic with a single shade or a nice combination of colors like a bright and contemporary French manicure or a solid mani with an elegant stripe here or there.

Combinations of these bright candy color nail polish shades can sort of look tropical, especially with blue and orange or pink and green. You can also enjoy trying different colors across different weeks, changing up your nail polish as often as you are comfortable redoing your nails.

I received a handful of bright nail polish colors to try for our summer 2011 guide to nail polish. JULEP, a classy nail polish brand with lovely, skinny bottles and vibrant colors, offers three gorgeous shades for spring and summer nails. JULEP’s hot nail colors for 2011 include Natalie (a bright pinkish coral shade), Gloria (an orangey coral color), and Amy (a medium blue tone). I really enjoyed the entire experience with these colors and this brand. The bottles are very skinny but the nail polish brush is still efficient and easy to use. I enjoyed using the Natalie color for my manicure and the Gloria color for my pedicure.

Some of the other hottest nail lacquer colors for summer 2011 include ORLY’s Pinup Collection, which features Va Va Voom (Pink Neon Crème), Here Comes Trouble (Sparkle Green), Coquette Cutie (Coral Crème), and Bubbly Bombshell (Purple Glitter). I received the latter three for testing purposes and must admit the two glitter colors are my favorites out of the three ORLY shades I received. The purple and green glitter polishes have a unique blend of tiny sparkles and bigger pieces of glitter, offering a more dimensional look. The glitter nail colors work especially well as a topcoat, adding a special sparkle to any manicure or pedicure.

Summer 2011 Nail Polish Trend #2: Color-Changing Mood Nail Polish
The trends for summer 2011 hot nail polish colors get even more fun and feisty with nail polish that actually changes color when you wear it! In the Mood nail polish is a “mood nail polish” that works much like a mood ring, changing colors when your body temperature changes. Unlike a mood ring though, these colors only take on two shades apiece.

I received three shades of In the Mood nail polish to try out for this summer nail color review. Naughty is a beautiful sparkly orange nail polish color that changes to yellow on warm fingers or sometimes in the sunlight. I’m not a big fan of yellow nail polish by itself, so while I adore the orange, I’m not totally crazy about wearing this when my hands are warm and the shade turns to yellow. The bluish purple shade, Guilty, turns a sweet shade of lighter blue when it gets warmed up. The pink shade, Ditsy, switches back and forth between a darker pink and a lighter pink. The textures are more of a matte finish with a smooth and lovely texture. I really enjoy the concept of mood nail polish since I am a child of the 80s and I’ve had my fair share of mood rings and color-changing jewelry. I recommend these or other fun mood nail polish products for a fun and different take on your traditional manicures and pedicures!

Summer Nails 2011 – Trends #3 and #4

Perfect Lip Gloss for Raspberry Lovers – Philosophy Raspberry Sorbet Lip Shine

Maybe it isn’t fair for me to write this review, since I am a huge fan or raspberry as well as all things lip balm or lip gloss. Or maybe that makes me the perfect person to write this review. Either way, I am super excited to share with you the amazing find that is Philosophy’s Raspberry Sorbet Lip Shine. This is my best beauty splurge yet – I believe I spent a full $10 on this goodie, but it’s well worth the cost for this luxurious lip treat that I’ll enjoy all summer long, and beyond.

“Sweet kisses are the best treat,” the tube of raspberry shine says boldly, reminding us of another great reason why we love lip gloss so much. This lip product has a distinctive sparkle and a rich raspberry taste that is out of this world. The tube is a nice size, 14 g. / 0.5 oz, which is typically easy to find inside even the biggest black-hole of a purse. I have had this for several months and though I don’t use it compulsively (I have about 80 lip balm products, probably), I find it just lasts and lasts.

So the raspberry flavor is my favorite. I also love the sparkle and shine this beauty goodie adds to your lips. It is rich and emollient without feeling too sticky. I also enjoy that I can stand it upright on my makeup counter bathroom counter when I’m getting dolled up in the morning.

You can get this wonderful raspberry-flavored lip shine product at Sephora or online at Amazon.com. Believe me when I tell you, if you like raspberry, Philosophy, and lip products, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

Am I King? (Review of “I Am King” Cologne)

Well, that all depends on how you look at it.

Current life cycles for a new cologne or perfume have been reduced from decades to maybe a couple years (by contrast, Coco’s Chanel No. 5 was introduced in 1921 and still tops $100 million in sales annually). With our insatiable ADD buying culture, we are constantly looking for the latest and greatest – considering new products obsolete even before they hit the market. So from that perspective, the fact that Diddy’s “I Am King” will even have a 3rd birthday to celebrate this November is in and of itself an accomplishment.

Packaging is elegant; a simple, clear glass bottle tinged pale lilac topped by a glassy mirrored cap gets the job done neatly. The understated branding in the bottom corner doesn’t scream vanity. Nice.

However, when you grab the top you notice two things right away: Firstly, you’ve stuck your grubby hands all over the once pristine cap, leaving smudgy finger prints behind. And secondly, the top is much lighter than it looks. You realize that it isn’t (probably wisely) actually made of mirrors, but cheap, shiny plastic. The whole experience is somewhat…disenchanting.

But hey, this is all about the scent, right?

“Top notes” (the very first thing you smell while the cologne is still wet) are all citrus fruits. Tangerine and Orange walk into your house uninvited, but that’s OK because they don’t stay long. While they take leave, you realize a darker more complicated somebody has been sitting in the corner the whole time. The “body” (what comes out when the top notes depart) draws out wood tones including cedar, sandalwood, and oakmoss, as well as sea water, lemon and cranberry. It’s like a warm summer’s night on the Riviera in a classic wooden speedboat. And there are a lot worse ways to spend your time.

The undertones settle down in a few hours to an enjoyable yet subtle spice and that’s exactly where they stay all day or all night. To test the longevity I sprayed directly onto my skin and then went for a five mile run. Sweating out three pounds of water weight later (no exaggeration) the scent was still hanging on, though in reality there wasn’t much left.

To be honest, I didn’t think I was going to like any scents by Puff Diddly, or P Daddy, or whatever it is that he calls himself right now. I figured the cologne would be like his recent music; juvenile, uninspiring, and increasingly irrelevant. But actually, I quite like I Am King. Is it the best cologne out there? No. It’s not even the best cologne I’ve personally owned. But is it King of the moment? Sure, why not.
