Suave Scalp Solutions Anti-Dandruff Nourishing Coconut & Shea Butter Shampoo & Conditioner

Suave Scalp Solutions Shampoo and Conditioner ReviewWho doesn’t love a nice coconut scented beauty product? I personally am a sucker for just about all things coconut, so I was excited to learn that Suave now offers a line of shampoo and conditioner for scalp health with a coconut fragrance. Suave Scalp Solutions Anti-Dandruff Nourishing Coconut & Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner are designed to fight flakes while keeping your hair shiny, healthy, and moisturized.

I was delighted to receive a bottle each of Suave Scalp Solutions Anti-Dandruff Nourishing Coconut & Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner for the purpose of this review. The timing worked out nicely, as my scalp had recently gotten a touch of sunburn when I was on vacation, so it was flaking and peeling a bit. I noticed right away when using the anti-dandruff hair products that the flaking and peeling settled down and my hair was soft and silky to the touch after shampooing and conditioning. In fact, I felt as though my hair had the same quality texture, shine, and bounce as when I use Pantene shampoo and conditioner or salon grade hair products.

The fragrance of the Scalp Solutions Nourishing Coconut & Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner collection is enjoyable with a playful yet elegant scent that lingers long after your shower concludes. The coconut scent is light and fragrant but not overpowering in the least. It can blend nicely with your usual perfume or scented body lotion.

Scalp Solutions Anti-Dandruff Nourishing Coconut & Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner definitely work hard to treat and eliminate dandruff and related symptoms while moisturizing your hair and scalp. This shampoo and conditioner duo is gentle enough for daily use and works especially well when used as a pair. Both these hair products contain Shea butter and coconut fruit extract.

The Suave Scalp Solutions collection also includes Invigorating Mint and Eucalyptus and Invigorating Ocean Minerals & Aloe Vera 2-IN-1. The shampoo and conditioner products retail for about $3.79 per 14.5-ounce bottle. For more information on Suave Scalp Solutions products, check out their listing on Suave’s site.

Mission Skincare Pink Lemonade Serena Williams SPF 15 Lip Balmer Review

Mission Skincare Pink Lemonade Lip Balmer ReviewIt doesn’t take much to inspire me to buy a new tube of lip balm. In fact, the last time I was at CVS, I bought a tube and a tub. In my experience, it’s hard to have too many chapsticks. The other day I was at CVS picking up a prescription for my husband for his cold, and I just happened to pass by a lip balm display, so of course I had to check it out. I ended up coming home with Mission Skincare Pink Lemonade Serena Williams SPF 15 Lip Balmer and Essence of Beauty Strawberry Banana Lip Butter in a tub, which I haven’t opened yet. I’m a sucker for both of these flavors. First things first though, the pink lemonade Serena Williams lip balm…

The tube is thicker than a Softlips but minimally thinner than a Bonne Belle or a Crazy Rumors. It is a good height that makes it easier to find in your purse, but it is still small enough for your pocket. I especially like that the product has SPF15, making it perfect for the beach, sports, swimming, and spending time outside just about anywhere. It is also supposed to be effective in harsh weather conditions. This is a great lip balm to add to your collection, as it glides on smooth and silky with a nice creamy texture that seems to hydrate my lips longer than the average chapstick.

Mission Skincare Pink Lemonade Serena Williams SPF 15 Lip Balmer contains the active ingredients Octinoxate and Oxybenzone, both being sunscreen for UVA / UVB sun protection. Some other infredients include Beeswax, Candelilla wax, Olive fruit oil, Rosemary leaf extract, Echinacea Purpurea extract, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Pomegranate seed oil, Cranberry seed oil, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Vitamin D3, and Vitamin K, to name a few.

The product is vitamin-enriched and paraben-free, making it a good, healthy choice for your lips. Clinical tests prove the moisturizing effects can last for up to eight hours when using this product. I really do notice a lasting effect and I’ve been grabbing for this product first when looking for a lip balm in my purse. The flavor is subtle, but there. I don’t find it to have the same zing as the Bonne Belle pink lemonade chapstick, but it is a more upscale and utilitarian product thanks to the sleek styling and the inclusion of sunscreen.

If you want to try out this appealing lip smoothing and hydrating goodie, simply check out your favorite local drugstore or mass market retailer. Mission Skincare Pink Lemonade Serena Williams SPF 15 Lip Balmer sells for around $3.99 per tube.

Springtime Nail Art Designs

Spring nail art designsSpring is not only the most colorful season of the year, but it is also the most awaited in the fashion calendar. Why? It’s because it signifies a new year of colors, trends, and designs that will grace the streets of New York, Milan, Barcelona, and Paris. More often than not, people tend to focus on the clothes and the makeup just because these are the things that easily get their attention. Little do they know that some of the trends on the runway can actually be applicable to springtime nail art ideas. Here are a few examples of what you can do with this year’s trends and translate them into pretty spring nails.

You will need nail polish (OPI has a variety that you will fall in love with), nail art pens (you could also use a toothpick or a really tiny paintbrush), paper towels or a napkin to put your hands over so that you avoid making a mess, nail polish remover, Q-tips, and a clear topcoat to finish.

The easiest thing to do is to go plain. Use this season’s colors to match your spring wardrobe as well. I guarantee you that you will look put-together. Use Pantone colors such as cockatoo, driftwood, solar power, margarita, and cabaret.

Color Block
1.    Paint your nails in your desired base color. Let it dry.

2.    Use a more striking set of colors for the color blocks. Use a masking tape to create divisions on your nails if you’re really poor at drawing straight lines. You can combine spring colors like margarita with cabaret and driftwood, or cockatoo with solar power. Let the coat dry. Here’s an example of a color block attempt.

3.    Apply a clear topcoat to finish.

1.    Paint your nails in your desired spring nail polish base color. Let it dry.

2.    Using a toothpick, nail art pen, or a paintbrush dipped in another color and draw a line from one end of your nail to the other. Create lines in a variety of widths to make it more interesting. Take a look at this attempt to give yourself a visual.

3.    Apply a clear topcoat to finish.

1.    Paint your nails in your desired base color. Let it dry.

2.    Open up a variety of colors and make sure that the brush is easy to lift. You will need to be quick in applying each color onto your nails.

3.    Apply the first color in one stroke. Before it dries, quickly apply another color and make sure that it overlaps part of the first color so that it blends. Do this with all the colors that you want to use until you fully cover the nail. Let it dry. Take a look at this attempt to paint a sunset inspired nail.

4.    Apply a clear topcoat to finish.

1.    Apply a metallic base coat. Orly Luxe is a great shade for this. Let it dry. If you want to put a spring theme into this previous spring nail art favorite, use a spring pantone color.

2.    With a very careful and precise finger, paint over the nail with a darker shade, leaving a crescent moon at the base of the nail. Think of it as a reverse French tip, because that’s what it looks like. Let it dry. Take a look at this pretty one. If you have a hand that’s quite a bit shaky, you can put on a piece of tape that’s cut out in a crescent shape on the base of your nail and remove it once the darker coat dries.

3.    Apply a clear top coat to finish. You may want to try one that has a matte finish to enhance the look.

These spring nail designs are inspired from the latest trends that hit the runway during the Spring/Summer 2012 shows. Ruffian, however, was inspired by the designer who used it on his models in his Spring 2010 collection during the New York Fashion Week. Spring nail colors add so much to your look, no matter what you wear. Have you tried these spring nail art techniques? What other ideas do you have for your nails this season? Adorable Easter Dessert Ideas to Enjoy or Share

Easter is a time of year that brings to mind wonderful, delicious sweets and treats – coconut Easter eggs, jelly beans, candy as far as the eye can see, cupcakes, pastries, decadent cakes in the shape of bunnies, and so many other yummy and adorable Easter desserts. No matter if you are hosting Easter yourself or looking to make something you can bring with you to someone’s home for the holiday, consider these fun and adorable Easter dessert ideas you can make yourself!

Before you get started, make sure you have the necessary supplies. If you are planning a few days to a week or two in advance, that should give you sufficient time to order or purchase any ingredients or materials you need to create your very own delicious Easter desserts and treats.

Coconut Easter Bunny Cake
This popular favorite Easter dessert gets better and better every year. Your kids and younger relatives will absolutely love this adorable bunny shaped cake!

Box of cake mix (or your own recipe)
Can of vanilla frosting
Shredded coconut
Jelly beans for eyes and nose
Shoestring licorice for whiskers
Fruit Rollups for Ears
One marshmallow for cotton tail
(Makes 2 bunny cakes)

1.    Bake a cake in two round pans.
2.    Remove from pans and allow cake to cool on cooling racks.
3.    Frost the top of one cake layer once cool.
4.    Put the second cake layer on top of the one you just frosted, as if you are making a traditional round cake.
5.    Cut the round cake in half and place each half on a plate, flat side down.
6.    Frost the cake with vanilla frosting and immediately coat the entire half-cake with shredded coconut.
7.    Using scissors or a steak knife over a cutting board, cut out two bunny ear shapes from the Fruit Rollups.
8.    Attach the Fruit Rollup Ears with frosting to the side of the cake where the head will be. (Usually where the cake is arcing upward is a good place for the ears, just before it levels out.)
9.    Add two of the same colored jelly beans for eyes and a pink or red one for a nose. Place them appropriately based on where your ears are located.
10.    Add a big white marshmallow or a dab of frosting and more coconut for a tail.
11.    Repeat steps 6 – 10 for the second bunny cake.

Tip: If you like, sprinkle jelly beans or other Easter candy around the platter where the bunny cake sits.

Alternative Shape for Bunny Cake: Easter Bunny Sheet Cake
If you like the idea of an Easter bunny cake but you don’t want to mess with the sideways positioning and cutting a cake in half and all that, you can make an Easter Bunny Sheet Cake instead. Make your cake as usual, and instead of frosting it all at once, keep one round cake intact and cut the other so that you have a bow-tie and two ears. Arrange the pieces of cake on a foiled board or platter and frost all pieces. Decorate with pink sugar crystals, jelly beans, and shoestring licorice for whiskers. This yummy bunny cake can be a delicious way to celebrate Easter!

Easter Basket Cupcakes
Sometimes cupcakes are easier for certain gatherings than a whole cake. If you prefer to make some adorable Easter basket cupcakes, try this fun and easy Easter dessert recipe.

Cake mix
Jelly beans, M&Ms or other Easter candy
Twizzlers or other licorice

1.    Bake cupcakes in cupcake wrappers according to instructions on packaging.
2.    Allow to cool and then frost each Easter basket cupcake as desired. You can use a cake decorating gun to make the frosting look like Easter basket grass that you put in the Easter baskets.
3.    Gently poke both ends of the licorice vine into the cupcake to make it look like a basket.
4.    Add jelly beans or M&Ms or any Easter candy you like to each Easter basket cupcake for decoration and additional sweetness.

Tip: Consider using different colors of frosting for a fun and varied look or all the same color so no one fights over the last pink one!

Three Non-Greasy Sunscreen Options to Protect Your Skin

Neutrogena Dry Touch Sunscreen ReviewAs I’m getting older, I’ve realized there are a few things I don’t mind spending more money on if it means a better experience or better results. Sunscreen is one of those things. Last year I had a mishap with a manicure only two days after I had it done – when I used a certain favorite brand of sunscreen of mine, the manicure became sticky and disfigured. I also got terribly, terribly sunburned. I have since decided to try some of the more expensive sunblock products that boast a non-greasy texture that absorbs right into your skin right away. So far I am impressed and very glad I did!

My husband tends to like the spray sunscreen products because they are easy to apply, but I’m not fully sure if I trust them just yet. He also likes the ones that don’t leave your hands sticky. Now THAT I can go with! So I bought three different non-greasy, fast-absorbing sunscreen products to bring on our last vacation – Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock (SPF 30), Neutrogena Healthy Defense Oil-Free Sunblock Lotion (SPF 45), and Aveeno Active Naturals Continuous Protection Sunblock Lotion (SPF 30, specially formulated for face).

Here’s the lowdown on each non-greasy, fast-absorbing sunscreen product:

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock (SPF 30)
Neutrogena Dry Touch Sunscreen ReviewThe tube of Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock (SPF 30) was the first one I put in my basket, because I seem to remember my sister having this last year, and me borrowing it and loving it. And for good reason… This product is very lightweight and feels clean when you apply it. It doesn’t leave your hands and skin feeling gross, oily, and caked up with product. I felt like the suntan lotion rubbed right in and left my skin feeling almost as soft and smooth as before I even applied it. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock (SPF 30) provides UVA/UVB protection in a formula that is enriched with vitamins A, C, and E to help protect your skin from environmental damage.

One of the other benefits I enjoyed in using Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock (SPF 30) – it truly is waterproof and sweat-proof. I wore it when snorkeling and in the pool and had no problems. I only got mild sunburn when I forgot to reapply after swimming, toweling off, and several hours had passed since I first applied it. Another great thing about this Neutrogena sunblock lotion is that it won’t clog your pores. I used it on my face as well as the rest of my body and didn’t run into any problems whatsoever.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock (SPF 30) retails for about $10 – $11 for a 3 oz. tube, depending on where you buy it.

Neutrogena Healthy Defense Oil-Free Sunblock Lotion (SPF 45)
Neutrogena Oil-free Sunblock ReviewBased on my bad sunburn last year, I decided to get a sunblock product with SPF 45 just to be safe. I picked up Neutrogena Healthy Defense Oil-Free Sunblock Lotion (SPF 45) and have absolutely no regrets. This product also won’t clog pores and offers broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection from the sun. I found this oil-free sunblock to be non-greasy as well as lightweight and comfortable to wear for an extended period of time. Like the Dry-Touch version above, this product also contains anti-oxidants to help protect your skin from free radicals due to sun exposure.

I used this product most after I already got a little color on vacation. I didn’t want to get any sunburn on top of sunburn I already had, so I applied this liberally and kept my tanning to a minimum. I’m glad I did, because skin cancer does run in the family and I don’t want to take any chances.

Neutrogena Healthy Defense Oil-Free Sunblock Lotion (SPF 45) comes in a 4 oz. bottle that retails for about $10.

Aveeno Active Naturals Continuous Protection Sunblock Lotion (SPF 30, specially formulated for face)
Aveeno Face Sunscreen ReviewThis sunscreen provides UVA/UVB protection as well, in an oil-free, water-resistant formula that is lightweight and specially formulated for use on your face. I usually try to bring at least one bottle of face-friendly sunblock when we go on vacation. This Aveeno sunscreen product got passed around in our group quite a bit, so I think that is testament to its effectiveness as well as gentleness on the skin. Aveeno Active Naturals Continuous Protection Sunblock Lotion contains natural soy and Vitamins A, C, and E to help protect your skin from environmental damage.

Aveeno Active Naturals Continuous Protection Sunblock Lotion boasts its very own patented sun protection complex, which allows it to protect you from the sun over a longer period of time. This sunblock lotion is also design to be more effective for skin that is highly sensitive to sunburns. I found no problems in using this Aveeno sunblock and it definitely did the trick in protecting our skin without blocking or clogging our pores.

Aveeno Active Naturals Continuous Protection Sunblock Lotion comes in a 3 oz. tube and retails for about $10 – $12.

If you are looking for a non-greasy sunblock that stands up to the demands of being on vacation, I highly recommend any of the three of these products. Depending on the duration of your trip, you may even want to pick up two or all three. If you only want one, I’m not sure that I have a favorite – I might recommend choosing based on the level of SPF you need, or simply see which brand offers the best deal for your needs.

Waterproof Eyeliner – Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner Trio Review

Waterproof Eyeliner Trio by Physician's FormulaAs I was getting ready to go away on vacation, I realized I would be in need of a waterproof eyeliner pencil or two to take along on the trip. I always manage to get waterproof mascara, but waterproof eyeliner is something that has always evaded me – until now. I luckily stumbled upon Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner Trio (for brown eyes!) at my local CVS a few days before I was leaving on vacation.

The Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner Trio more than met my expectations for a 24-hour wear eyeliner pencil. This set included three different colors, all perfectly suited for my brown eyes – but you can definitely pick up the trio that best suits your own eye color. The brown eyes trio for water-resistant eyeliners includes three different colored eye pencils – natural Espresso, playful Purple, and dramatic Black and Purple Shimmer.

I found all three to be just what I needed in one product package, rather than having to buy two or three separate eyeliner products. I especially love wearing purple colors on my eyes since the hues go so nicely with brown eyes, so I greatly enjoyed the purple eyeliner. I also found the brown pencil matched my usual go-to eye shadows and mascara, since I’ve been so swept up in browns and earth tones lately, well who am I kidding, almost forever.

Each eyeliner pencil also includes its own sharpener for precision application. I haven’t had to use it yet, but it’s nice to know it’s there.

I wore these eyeliners along with my waterproof mascara in the swimming pool several times on vacation and found the colors stayed put and my makeup looked great even hours later when I returned to my hotel room. These pencils seem to be effectively waterproof and tear-proof, making them great for movie dates, weddings, and any sentimental occasion.

Suggested retail price is $10.95, but I am pretty sure I got mine for buy one, get one half-off. You can typically find Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner Trio for brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes, or hazel eyes for sale anywhere from $6 to $11 per trio.

Easter Wishes, Messages, Greetings, and Sentiments for the Ones You Love

Easter wishes, messages, greetings, and sentimentsSending an Easter greeting card can be a great way to show you care, even if you can’t spend the holiday with someone close to you. Parents, in-laws, and grandparents will especially appreciate handwritten Easter cards where you include a little personal message along with the card’s existing sentiments. Share your Easter wishes and greetings with your immediate family, including brothers and sisters, as well as your dear friends, and of course, your significant other – husband, wife, boyfriend, or girlfriend.

Getting in touch with special Easter messages doesn’t have to be time consuming or expensive. Depending on the person you are trying to reach, you can simply send a Happy Easter text message to your technology savvy family and friends. You can send snail mail Easter letters or Easter greeting cards to your older relatives, especially grandparents, and you can send Easter e-cards to your close friends and coworkers as appropriate.

Sometimes it is easier to make a phone call to deliver some special holiday greetings, especially at Easter. If this is the case for you, just pick up the phone and call your nearest and dearest, letting them know you’re thinking of them and wishing them a Happy Easter. Even if you don’t connect, you can still leave an Easter message on the voicemail to let them know they’re in your thoughts.

Here are a few sample Easter messages, greetings, wishes, and heartfelt Easter sentiments to consider for specific people in your life.

Easter Wishes for Parents and Grandparents
Your parents and grandparents have been a big part of your life for a long time. Be sure not to neglect their feelings on the Easter holiday. Simply put together a nice Easter greeting card or make a quick phone call to deliver a Happy Easter message. Here are a few examples of sweet Easter wishes you can share with your family.

•    Thinking of you on Easter and wishing we were celebrating together. Have a very Happy Easter!
•    You’re in our thoughts and our hearts this Easter holiday. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
•    Sending love and warm Easter wishes your way… Happy Easter!
•    It’s Easter time – the perfect time to remind you how special you are to us. We love you!

Easter Greetings for Brothers, Sisters, and Friends
No matter where your siblings and close friends live – near or far – it is a lovely gesture to take the time to let them know they’re in your thoughts, especially around a holiday. Here are some examples of things you can say in an Easter greeting or message to your brother, sister, or friends.

•    Wish we could be together celebrating like old times! Happy Easter to your family from ours!
•    Wishing you a wonderful Easter. Looking forward to catching up soon!
•    Happy Easter to the best [brother / sister / friend] a [girl / guy] could have!
•    Just wanted to send some love and blessings on Easter. Enjoy your holiday!

If you are particularly close to any of your coworkers, you can also share some Happy Easter wishes or greetings with them. Just be aware of any policies your company has related to religion and holidays.

Easter Sentiments for Your Boyfriend, Girlfriend, Husband, or Wife
At the very least, sharing your love and emotions on Easter with your significant other should be a prerequisite. From something as simple as “Happy Easter – I love you!” to a more complex action, such as penning a romantic Easter poem or love letter, you can choose to express your Easter sentiments with your husband, wife, boyfriend, or girlfriend in the way that best suits your relationship. Here are a few suggestions for Easter sentiments you can share with your sweetheart.

•    As each holiday rolls around, I am reminded of how lucky I am to have you. Happy Easter, sweetheart!
•    Happy Easter to the one I love. So glad we get to celebrate a lifetime of Easters together.
•    Easter time reminds me of all the things I love about you.
•    Happy Easter – I’m so in love with you.

These are just examples – you will certainly want to match the sentiment of the Easter message for your sweetheart to how you feel and how serious your relationship is.

Special Easter Messages and Ideas for Your Kids
Last but certainly not least, be sure to share some sweet Easter thoughts or ideas with your kiddos. Your children will definitely appreciate you taking the time to acknowledge the holiday and your relationship with them. No matter if you have a son, daughter, or a houseful of children, you can find a fun and sweet way to show how much you care on or leading up to Easter.

•    Happy Easter – Mommy and Daddy love you so much!
•    Wishing you the best Easter ever! XOXOXO
•    Just a little reminder how much you are loved today and always!

In addition to sweet Easter messages for your kids, consider fun activities you can enjoy together. Dye Easter eggs as a family, make homemade Easter cookies or Easter candy, or plant some flower seeds together. You can also color in Easter pictures or springtime coloring books, make Easter designs out of sculpting clay or Play-doh, or try your hand at another Easter craft idea.

Basic Spring Cleaning Checklist

Spring Cleaning ChecklistSpringtime is finally just about here and there’s no better time to get your house cleaned up than right now. You can tackle a great number of spring cleaning tasks when the weather first gets nice, and some of the tasks you can even take care of on a rainy day. Here is a spring cleaning checklist we’ve prepared with some of our very favorite chores to tackle in the early spring.

Before you get started on your spring cleaning, you may want to make your own Spring Cleaning To-Do list and review it for any materials you may need to buy. Be sure you have plenty of paper towels and cleaners, household wipes, and other cleaning necessities.

To fully tackle your spring cleaning, you should make a specific list for each room. In the meantime, here are some of the top spring cleaning tasks you can focus on this spring:

•    Empty out your kitchen cabinets, wipe them down, and reorganize everything. Find better ways to put everything back in so you have a neater kitchen.

•    Clean the inside and outside of all your appliances. Clean out your fridge of any old foods or condiments and wipe down all the drawers and shelves. Clean your oven and stove top. Wipe down the microwave. You get the idea.

•    Go through your pantry and get rid of any expired food. Organize everything so that you can always find what you’re looking for – keep the pastas together, the canned goods, soups, snacks, drinks, and so forth.

•    Clean the windows. No one likes this job, but if you are going to let any fresh air in your home, you might as well do it through clean windows. Open each window and swap out the storm windows for screens if you have them. Wipe down all the trim and windowsills as well as the inside tracks of the windows. Use Windex to clean any glass surfaces. Don’t forget any sliders or French doors!

•    Give your tile and hardwood floors a good cleaning. You can really brighten up a room with a shiny, clean floor.

•    Vacuum, sweep, dust, and generally straighten all the rooms in your house. Take the time to ensure each room looks its best from top to bottom. Check the corners of the ceiling for any cobwebs and check underneath furniture for any dust bunnies.

•    Clean out and organize your garage, basement, attic, and/or shed. Springtime is a great time to organize, de-clutter, and put everything back together. You’ll feel so much better once your home is organized and neat.

•    Tackle some yard work. Whether you want to get your beds ready for flowers or this year’s plantings or if you simply want to clear away anything left from last fall or the winter, this is a great time of year to get your yard looking great. You can also clean off patio furniture, and clean your grill, for starters.

•    Wipe down cabinets, walls, baseboards, light fixtures, and other surfaces. These surfaces get dusty over time and they can even collect dust bunnies and bugs here and there. Consider unscrewing any dome-style light fixtures to clear out any dust or bugs that may have gotten inside.

Some other good tasks to do around the house in the springtime may require you to bring a contractor or service company to your home. You may want to look into getting your vents cleaned out and replacing air filters (especially if you have spring allergies – be sure to get an allergy specific filter for your home). These are just a few examples – speak with your family members to see what other tasks you may need to tackle this spring.

To ensure you hit all your bases, take a look at your house one room at a time. Some rooms will have special needs as compared to other rooms. Your kitchen and bathrooms may present the biggest challenges while bedrooms may be a simpler task overall. It really depends on where you want to focus and what cleaning and organizing needs you currently have.

Please feel free to share any tips or other suggestions in our comments below!

Spring 2012 Hot Makeup Colors for Eyes

Spring 2012 Hot Makeup Colors and Trends for EyesSpring makeup is more about feeling and looking fresh, light, and dewy. After all, it’s the season of bright colors. Taking inspiration from the blossoms, makeup for spring 2012 is going to go back to the basics and the naturals. Hot colors for the eyes include lilacs, aqua, cockatoo, pinks, and neutrals. Take a look on what to expect with our preview of spring 2012 hot makeup colors for eyes.

Barely There

Perhaps the most natural looking makeup is one where you’d have a difficult time distinguishing whether or not a person really is made-up. This is the aim of barely-there makeup. Eye makeup would focus more on taupe, tan, or bronze. Typically, eyeliners create a more dramatic look. Taylor Swift is a good example of someone using barely there makeup, sticking to winged eyeliners.

One unusual trend to look out for is a glossy eye makeup over matte skin, as seen in runways for the Spring/Summer 2012 collection. This texture can be achieved by using cream-based eye shadows over a matte foundation. Shimmers have the same effect as well, but remember to stick to a nude shade if you’re going for this look.

Nothing spells romantic more than pink. That slight blush over the cheeks is best complimented by a light sweep of coral or peach on the eyes, followed by a very light highlighter in the brow bones and at the inner corners of the eyes. Long eyelashes also have the same romantic effect. In fact, great mascara even enhances the look when paired with romantic eyes. So feel free to brush up your eyelashes. Maybelline Great Lash or a similar product offering length and volume would do the trick for you.

If you are all for partying like a rock star this season, you will definitely enjoy the bright splash of colors that you will find in magazine editorials. If you look closely, you’ll find them similar to peacock colors –   greens, yellows, purples, and blues – only in lighter shades. These are cockatoos, lilacs, and margaritas. If you wish to enhance your eye color, go for ones that truly pop.

For blue eyes, corals and yellows will make your eyes bluer than blue. Hazel eyes, or those with brown eyes, would do well in shades of green such as lime. Here’s a hint: Go over the color wheel, and the colors that lie opposite to your eye color will compliment your peepers. M.A.C. has a very broad range of colors, and it remains one of our favorite lines of makeup.

Glam colors such as gold and bronze will always have a place in a glamazon’s heart. Gold and bronze eye makeup work their magic after a good tan, so be sure to stock up on it right after spending a day out for a picnic or a trip to the beach. They are also universal colors for spring in the way that they go well with other bright and even shocking colors. Leave the smoky eye for now, and stick to bronze and gold eyes. Smoky eye will look out of place this season; save it for fall.

Earth tones are always a keeper. Brown, tan, beige, and ash will go with a nude theme of makeup. Better still, they’ll serve as a blank canvas for you to be able to make other parts of your face pop. If you’re looking to put focus on your lips or your cheeks, then donning earth tones is a great idea.

Six Easter Makeup Tips and Hot Looks for Spring

Easter Makeup Tips for SpringThe warm weather invites flirty fashions and gorgeous spring makeup looks, especially suited for Easter and any nice day in or out this spring. No matter if you prefer to try a new look for spring or simply want to spruce up your current look with a fresh pop of color. Here are some fun and fabulous Easter makeup tips and hot looks to try this spring.

Before you get started with applying any makeup for Easter or spring, consider your existing makeup collection and what items you might like to update. Be sure you have some fresh nail polish colors, eye shadows, and eyeliners. You should also make sure your mascara is in full working order, and that your concealer and foundation products still deliver the same results you enjoy on a daily basis. One of the best secrets to flawless makeup application and a polished look is to ensure the cosmetics are not expired or past their prime.

Now, consider these pretty Easter makeup tips and hot looks you can try for spring.

1.    Keep your fingernails and toenails looking fresh and beautiful. Try a standard French manicure for a classy look, pink or red toenails for a classic and timeless look, or a fun variation with some Easter nail art (or Easter Egg nail designs) if you are in the mood for something playful instead.

2.    Add a pop of color to your eyes. Whether you are trying a new, colored eyeliner pencil or experimenting with fun eye shadow colors for 2012, a nice burst of color can add so much to your look.

3.    Add two coats of mascara to ensure your lashes stand out. Once you’ve added some pretty eyeliner and eye shadow, don’t forget to finish your eyes with some dramatic mascara. Your long, luxurious lashes will draw attention to your pretty look for Easter or spring in general.

4.    Go for a subtle lip gloss with a hint of color and a touch of shimmer. Your lips will look and feel great. Keeping your lips hydrated with a subtle shine makes them so much more kissable!

5.    Cover up any blemishes and add a light dusting of bronzer to warm up your skin with sparkle. A good bronzer product will add just the right amount of shimmer and glow without making you look fake or like you’re trying too hard. A subtle touch of shimmer can be gorgeous at Easter and in the springtime before summer arrives.

6.    Finish it all off with a spritz of perfume. Though it doesn’t directly impact your appearance, a delicate hint of perfume pleasantly greets those you meet and it may linger as you pass by.
